I bought a Bodum insulated porcelain tea mug, manufactured in China. The silicone material of which the insulating sleeve is made gives off a perceptible odor which becomes much stronger when the cup is filled with hot liquid. At that time, there is a very noticeable odor of synthetic rubber, "dirty dish water", "rubber floor mat", or however you'd like to describe it.
