My Carrier furnace broke down late in the day on a cold, snowy January afternoon. I called Gillece and the repairman came about 8 pm. He diagnosed the problem as a faulty ignitor. He had the part in his truck and said it would cost $575 (over and above the $95 service call). I know little about furnaces, but enough to know that $575 was completely beyond the realm of sanity.
