In July of '06, I joined Comcast and disconnected Directv, called them and said that I was now using Comcast and not hooked to them anymore and the lady at Directv said okay and would I like to keep my account in case I may want to re-hook in the future. I said yes, you can keep my info just in case. I was a customer for 2 years so there wasn't any penalty charges to apply but they charged me 2 more monthes of service.
