AT&T recently "migrated" their Email service to Yahoo servers. A hitherto flawless service from BellSouth (now AT&T Southeast) now is awful. Many of us donot use our "real" email address, but prefer to use a forwarded one. This is an expedient way to maintain a permanent email address, even if one changes ISPs. I have had one for 15 years. If you want to use a "different" address in the From[Field] than your Bellsouth/ATT.net address, the new AT&T/Yahoo SMTP server will block it.
