I returned a couple of unwanted birthday gifts last September and got a merchandize credit electronic card. When I tried to use it a couple of months later, it's balance showed 0. After a lot of hassle, several calls to the customer service center, dropped callas and re-telling my story to about 5 different CSR, I was notified that someone used my card to purchase goods online.
