I puchased a as-is sofa from Ikea, the item was dirty but not broken. I had it delivered and it arriived broken. SOmething happened to the sofa from the time I left it for delivery and the time it arrived. over the next 4 days, I spoke to people at Ikea from customer service to managers to customer relations at corporate office, even thought every last one of them agreed that I was in the right, their store policy forbid them from righting the wrong.
