I had direct TV installed in march of 2005. Unknown to me at the time the installation was done using my local cable carriers line. Our home owners association has a deal with the local cable company and for a small fee tacked onto our yearly dues, we get expanded basic for pennies on the dollar. The company (www.bookspan.com) offered me a bookclub membership in 2002 with my agreement to buy (2) books within a year. Initially I had problems paying for the intro offer because they did not accept online payment. Subsequently I bought one book and paid for an advance purchase voucher for the 2nd required book to be bought within a year and then was told my membership was terminated and therefore would not be receiving book offers for which to use the voucher. Over the past four months, we have been desparate to have corrected a bill that was sent out to us regarding our payment to Rogers Cable TV. Services. No one within the company sector could or would not acknowledge that we were overpaying on our account and kept receiving bills in the mail all with different balances that did not concur with our recording system. The following complaint regards possible fraudulent billing, harassment and threats, and refusal to make repairs and maintenance. We are aware that some problems may exist regarding the post hurricane damages, but as of this date, the problems and excuses are no longer valid. THAT since October 2005 we have attempted to contact COX by email, telephone, and written correspondence to have to have Cable TV service restored back to normal. I just resently published a book-C.H.E.M.O. Plan Your Day They messed up the wording on cover(forgot a letter) and three pages had their notes printed on it instead of a calendar that was in the orginial manuscript. I purchased a book online from this company in Oct 09. When placing order there was a box to check if you wanted to get a discount and reduced shipping. I checked the box without reading the small print.(My Fault). I didn't realize I was signing up for some kind of buying service that authorized them to charge $9.95 to my credit card every month forever. We have cable TV...it was installed in January...they sent 5 installers to connect cable to our townhouse...it took three trips to first get cable to the townhouse, then everyone shows up to hook up two televisions and internet. They left...I had to fix every room and re-run the cables. They ran a plug from a closet to a bathroom and plugged it in...you could not close the door. This was January. I purchased a book on Amazon.com and I got involved in this awful scam... BBV Discount started billing me for 9.95 on a monthly basis! When I called them to find out why I was told I did a purchase and enrolled on this program! I Asked to cancel this rigth away and asked for a full refund for 8 months and I was told they could only do the last 2 months!! I hope people learn a big lesson from this! I got on the National Do Not Call List over a year ago. I only have a cell phone so it's very frustating when I receive "No Number" phone calls. This company pressured me into a magazine subscription that they made sound like I was already apart of. I ordered the Biggest Loser 10 seasons - I paid good money 5 DVDs did not work. There were commercials and election coverage all through one season . Parts were missing from another episode and one episode was missing altogher from another season. I was willing to overlook that but the 5 DVDs that did not work needed to be replaced. Chrystal Brooks said that she would replace them if I sent them back - which I did in January. I bought a magazine subscription from 2 young men only because they told me I could have it sent overseas to active military. Instead the magazine is coming to my house. What is the point of buying something from these kids if they don't do their job and send the magazine where it is supposed to go? They contact us telling us we have been named a leading firm in whichever practice area, and that to get our award mentioned we have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for a profile. I have had directv for 6 years now in my RV. Up until last year I have had no trouble changing my location at least twice during the year in order to pick-up the local channels. Now they tell me that I cannot pick-up the local channels & they are blacked-out. I can only order the LA & NY local channels for an extra fee of $15.00 per month. Their intent is to increase their revenue & screw the customer service. I do not consider the LA & NY channels as local channels either. I would never recommend directv to anyone as this is just another example of poor customer service in a long list of poor customer service. read full review »

This Company is offering movies sales cheap, and they are charging your debit card or credit card more than once. I was recentlly checking my bank statement online and found out that they have charged my account twice for the same movie. I could have purchased the movie from a local store right here in my town, but the price I thought was unbeatable. Do not purchase anything from this company, it is a rip off. HotMovieSales. Moved from columbia mo to shreveport la in november. I told them 2 weeks in advance that i was moving. So i didnt pay a pay in advance account for one week. So since i lived in shreveport la i have been in communication and returned nonworking equipment . Since this they have disconnected my service. I have not ask for this to be done. Travelzoo shouldn't try to be something they aren't. They do no quality control on their offerings or on the people they are associating with. Geordie's Restaurant at the Wrigley Mansion was a complete and utter rip-off through the Travelzoo prepaid voucher program. I placed an order for service with AT&T online and paid a deposit of $75. I contacted a rep after receiving an email requesting additional follow-up. I was told an additional $200 was needed for cable. I then cancelled the order and requested my refund since I do NOT have service with them. I have been given the run-around ever since. Each time I call I am transferred to other departments, told that I would receive a check refund, then I was told a refund would go back to my card... in 5-7 weeks!!! I have filed a BBB complaint.
