BOA steals from the poor June 19, 2009
Fees
When my daughters were juniors in high school opened each one account with my name added on both accounts. They have kept the same accounts now for 6 years. One of my twins was charged fees for overdraft which then escalated into a total of 350.00 in fees. To add injury to insult, they transferred 150 out of my other twins account into the one that was overdrawn with that 150 still leaving a negative balance of $305 after they again added on overdraft fees. Quite a racket they have. Told them that I nor my daughter gave them permission to transfer from one twin to other twins account to which they replied since I was on both accounts they could do so without permission. Be careful this doesn't happen to you. Thereby, wasting $150 and leaving the other twin with only $25 in the bank which luckily we caught on to before she too would overdraw and start getting fees. Went straight down and closed accounts. DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!

Credit card runaround, and just bizzare customer service
Bank of America is pretty much arbitrarily changing the terms for its credit card holders. In the last 6 months, they lowered my credit limit by $3000 without notice. Curiously, they lower the limit as soon as I pay down the balance.

When I called BoA about this, I was told that they would not increase the credit limit. However, a senior credit analyst and a supervisor suggested that I apply for a secured credit card to get a higher limit. I applied for the secured credit card online, and was promptly rejected. (A secured card carries no risk for the bank, since the credit line is secured by a deposit in the amount of the credit limit.)

When I called to inquire about this the next day, I was told by "George" in the secured credit card department that one could not have two credit cards with BoA. So I asked him how to solve my problem. George told me that he could not solve it because there are two separate departments -- one that deals with my credit card and one that deals with applications for a secured credit card. I asked to speak with someone who could deal with both departments; George told me that there was no one, because they are two separate and unrelated items. When I pointed out that the two issues are related because my application was denied because I currently have an unsecured credit card, George said he was trying to "educate" me.

After reaching an impasse, I asked to speak to his supervisor, and this is where it gets weird. George refused to let me talk to a supervisor, saying there was no supervisor. When I asked if he reported to someone, he gave me a runaround saying that "we all run this department." After five minutes of this bizarre conversation, he finally gave me the name Ken Lewis. Lewis is the President and CEO of Bank of America, by the way -- not a supervisor. Finally, George admitted that there was someone who wrote his evaluations; but he refused to give me a name and refused to let me speak to this person.

Has anyone else been refused when asking to speak with a supervisor? This conversation was just bizarre.

Credit Card Fee Scam
In February 2009, I paid my card payment online before noon on its due date, only to learn that the Monday due date was a holiday. Being disabled and unable to work, I hadn't realized that the day was a bank holiday. I had missed one payment a few months before because I mislaid the bill. My fault. I paid the late charge. But missing two payments jacked my interest rate up to almost 20%. Upon checking, I realized that since May 2008, five of the total 13 payment due dates were on days when the bank was closed. If the library in my town can program their computer to schedule book due dates only on days when they are open, why can't Bank of America do the same? I would love to get in on a class action law suit to bring attention to this consumer scam.

scam
I have been involved in a scam using Craigslist to book some accommodation for my holiday in New York. I have tried to contact Bank Of America to converse with them the bank details and the name of the person who was involved in the scam. They have not replied in over 2 weeks now and i am still keeping contact with the person involved in hope of running checks and finding out who they are and bringing them to justice. It would be nice if the Bank cared a little about their customers being frauds and wanting to shut them down, but they seem not to be worried. I have complete bank details and have run my own searches all the bank have to do is reply and give me some details to help my cause. I bet if i owed them $1380 them would come looking for me in a hurry.

switch and bait on CC interest rate
I consolidated credit cards with Bank of America at 2.9% a year later that rate jumped to 9.9% and today they called and offered to reduce it to 6.6% if I payed them $800. When they called however, the called under the name of Credit Card Services a consumer help agency... I was told that I could reduce my interest rate from 9.9% to 6.9% for no cost, I was all for it. When I receivd the call back from MR. Paul Blake, after I questioned him to ensure that there were no additional fees, eg; application, transfer or other he said no, no fees. I then told him ok lets do it and then he told me, " There is an $800 charge! I asked him why and he said, " that is just the way it is" I was shocked at such an answer and immediately didn't trust this deal, I asked him who was doing this and he told me Bank of America. IT was then that I realized that the bank I had been dealing with was now offering me a reduction in interest rate if I paid them. This seems cruel, it also seems like bait and switch, the callers never identified themselves as Bank of America employees, just as employees of a company that was workingto reduce credit card debt for over paying consumers.

Deceptive trade practices- Stealing from customers
Bank of America has been charging me NSF fees when my account is in the positive. I spent hours researching exactly how they were doing this and finally uncovered it. They are very sneaky!!!
Especially if you use online banking I suggest you start printing out your available balance page every day. Maybe even twice a day. How can you be charged a $35.00 NSF fee for a 26.95 transaction when your available balance before the 26.95 charge was 568.20? Then your balance was$541.25. The next day you deposit 2, 500.00 and are charged two NSF fees for activity they state for the prior day. It doesn't make sense to me! This happened on June 4th and 5th. The 26.95 was charged on 6-4-09 and my ending balance was $541.25. The $2, 500.00 was deposited the morning of June 5th showing my new balance as $3, 041.25. That day I had a $600.00 charge clear my account ( the 5th ). This charge was authorized on the 3rd and the funds put on hold in my account; however, the hold was released on the 4th and the funds were taken off hold and returned to my available balance. The bank is saying that it was this pending charge that caused me to go into the negative. Online banking though showed this charge pending and my available balance after it would clear and I always had a positive balance. They do not make any sense and what they are doing is criminal in my opinion!!!

Gave Out Personal Information
A Bank of America employee gave my stalker my checking account number, and also told him how many accounts I have with B of A. My stalker was able to walk into a local branch and make a deposit (using bad checks) into my savings and my checking, and then went to another branch and made a deposit into my savings (also a bad check). This is especially frustrating because four days prior I had called B of A customer service and had a notation put on my acct stating that "No transaction be made without two forms of ID." When I spoke to the branch manager, I asked if "transaction" meant withdrawl. He said, "No, a transaction is a a withdrawl, deposit, or transfer, " yet couldn't explain why a grown man was able to make a transaction using my account without showing two forms of ID - since he is obviously NOT a twenty five year old woman, as I am. The manager did agree with me that no one should be able to access information such as account numbers, or even how many accounts a customer has. But he had no explanation and no remorse for the fact that one of his employees had divulged that exact information.

I can't trust Bank of America now, knowing that anyone can walk into a branch or call up and get my personal banking information. What's next? Getting my money?

Raising INterest Rate
Bank of America suddenly upped my interest rate to 27%!! I have always paid, each month, more than the minimum due. When I called to talk with someone about lowering the rates, I was told, there is nothing they can do. I am currently going to transfer my remaining balance away from Bank of America and will never do business with these folks again. And we wonder why, as tax payers the government is providing bail outs for corporations such as this??... Bank of America has poor ethics and a bad business sense.
