Cell C Reviews

Billing problem never ending
I am a subscriber to Cell C for many years and I am rather desperate to cancel my contract with Cell C as it appears that the staff (supervisors included) are either not willing to assist customers or they are just incompetent in what they are doing. Unfortunatedly they do not speak Afrikaans nor do they understand plain simple South African English.

Since December 2009 I have added 1GB SmartData Bundle and 120 SMS Bundle to my Casual Chat 100 subscription. Inspite of having SmartData Bundle and a SMS Bundle my account appears to be abnormally high. I have already requested a reconcilliation of my account in order to determine the actual usage of data as it appears that I do not benefit from the data bundle or the sms bundle. I do not think that this is too much to grasp or to sort out.

Subsequent to that request I have made numerous enquiries either in person or telephonically in connection with my account. A minimum of 5 visits to the local Cell C shop were also not of any help to solve the problem. Each enquiry always ended in more promises made and excuses for the bad service and incompetance.

Cell C still has no IDEA where my phone is
I had a call from a Godfrey from Cell C after my report here and he also could not find my phone. The sad part is i am paying for a phone that Cell C has lost and no one seems to know where it. I have wasted so much money on calls to cell c. Godfrey tried to help but has since vanished into thin air. I am sick and tired of cell c. I want my phone if they cant find it the least they could do is to replace or give me feedback on the issue.THIS IS BAD SERVICE AND I DONT DESERVE THIS FROM SOMEONE I AM PAYING.I double checked the IMEI number on the box of the phone and it is the correct one.

Customer Service
I am fed up with Cell C and their service. I had over 9000 bonus smses that I had earned from a promotion that they were running in 2009. I was told that these smses do not expire by their service consultants. Last week I queried if it was at all possible to convert these bonus smses to points or airtime etc. I was told that they dont offer this service. The next thing my bonus smses are deleted from my account, no warning at all. When I contacted the customer service consultant, she confirmed that the bonus smses do not expire and she would log a query. Today I receive a call from Cell C informing me that the bonus smses do expire. What a cheek!!! Is this how Cell C treats their customers??

poor service
I submitted my cancellation letter at the end of November'2010, this is one and a half months in advance. My contract ended on the 16 January 2011, but on the 21 January 2011 when i wanted to find out why my number is not on pre-paid, they discovered that they never ended my contract. Eventually, on the same day i received an sms to inform me that my number is on pre-paid. I loaded on 3 occasions with no problem, however on the 29 January 2011, when i wanted to load airtime again i could not. I then started receiving sms's from Cell C stating that there is a problem with my account and that i needed to contact the call-centre for assistance. I done so and to my suprise it was discovered that my account was never cancelled and that it was still very much active. This frustrated me, because i was loading airtime with no problems and it will ask me to re-load if i ran out of airtime. I called the call centre a total of 3 times to lodge my complaint and the 1st consultant was so unhelpful, I am sure he was unaware what he was doing. The next 2 ladies I spoke to was very much of help. They had to recancell my contract, but the inconvinience is the fact that i will not be able to make any outgoing calls until MOnday.
Cell C is the worst service provider by far and after spending around 6 years with then i am afraid to say "the will never change even if the get a bigger celeb to market them".

No customer service and legal dept is the worst
I had an arrear of R2219, which I then settled in February 2010 and my payment profile was not updated until I called to enquire and I was told that my account is up to date and the payment profile will reflect after 7 March 2010. It was only incorrectly updated after 19 March 2010, still reflecting a non-payment even in February. Try calling the legal department, it is a nightmare! I had heard stories and never believed how ridiculous their customer service can be. I should have heeded the warnings.

Faulty cellphone constantly going for repairs
I received an LG KP500 on 18-09-2009, when I upgraded my cellphone contract. Unfortunately, the phone had to be booked in fro trepairs in less than a month's time. 21 days later, I got the phone back. In another month's time, the phone returned to CellC repairs centre with the same proble (audiospeaker not working). After another 21 days, I went to the CellC branch in Menlyn (PTA) to check if the phone had returned, and I found it at the store...I was not contacted. Another month later, the same phone is booked in for repairs with the same problem, and the staff at the store are not interested in assisting me further, but evemtually, they booked the phone in and told me that this time, I will be charged for the repairs.

I pay my bill in full every month, yet I hardly even get to use the phone, and above all, the store never has loan phones, so I must make a plan! I want a replacement phone immediately!

No stock plus late delivery
I am extremely disappointed with Cell C's service, particularly the George Garden Route Mall branch.
I went to the Cell C website and identified a phone and contract I wanted. I then went to the store on Monday 17 January and signed a contract with them. After everything was signed I was told that they're sorry but that they don't have stock of the phone I wanted. They said the stock would arrive by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. I heard nothing from them the whole week and on Thursday afternoon went to the store again to inquire. I was then told that the stock would arrive tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. I got a text message from the store on Friday afternoon saying that my phone didn't arrive with the stock they received.
How long does one have to wait for a product from this company??? And why do they lie about when the phone is scheduled to arrive, just to get clients off their backs or what??? It is pathetic and unethical.
I would advise anyone looking for a phone contract to consider MTN or Vodacom, they have more stores and surely better service than Cell C! Cell C doesn't deserve the business it gets.

Lying to get rid of customer
Once again Cell-C takes the cake for being the worse Telecommunications industry in Cape Town. With regards to my previous complaint, i was told that instead of being debited with R145.00 at the end of the month i would only be debited with R30.00. And heaven behold, i was debited with R145.00 as i knew would occur. Onkopontse you obviously think that i have forgotten what you said. i have the date, time of call and your name, which is all i need now.

I have contacted my close friend who just happens to be one of the publishers for the cape argus and he is awaiting my juicy story. Lying to customers to get rid of them has only gotten you in a even more messed up situation as what you were previously in. I have recieved no call about my previous complaint that i was debited with R145.00 so i've decided to take it further. Also you will be recieving a call as well as documentation from my company cancelling our contracts with you guys. Yes on average my company's bills comes to well over R100 000 so consider MTN the new lucky subscribers.

Deactivating my line without reason
Yesterday morning, while I am in a meeting, Cell C phoned me 3 times, left a voice message on my phone, phoned my husband and also my work land line. When I returned the call wondering what is going on, no one at customer service could tell me what the fuss is all about.

This morning when I needed to make a call I got the message that the number is barred. I phoned customer service to try to find out. Well needless to say after 3 phone calls and a different answer every time why my line has been deactivated (I am asking for a number transfer, my sim card has been loststolen) it is now their system who decided that certain numbers need to be deactivated. They have put it on the system to reactivate my line but do not know when this will happen because their system is slow. This is not the answer I want to hear.

The funniest of it all is that I have 2 contracts with Cell C and according to them both the numbers were deactivated. Unbelievable that the system has decided to deactivate both my numbers.

I am travelling more than a 100 kilometres from home to work and back and my cellphone is my instrument in case of an emergency and thanks to Cell C I cannot use my phone.

No service what so ever
I want to upgrade my phone and renew my contract. Upgrading my phone is a absolute nightmare. I spoke to a Faith who emailed me a list of phones. Finally decided on a phone and THE PHOHE IS OUT OF STOCK! After liasoning with Faith via email for a month + the phone is still not in stock. Every week it is the next week. Aventually Siyabonga phoned me and said i can get a Samsung Galaxy. I asked him if he knows how long it will take for the Nokia to be available, and once again no one new. I took the phone as Siyabonga said it had the same features. Firstly the samsung did not have all the features the nokia had, which Siyabonga said it did. As Murphy is, the next day Faith phones me to inform me the Nokia is now available. I said, well i ordered another phone just yesterday.. so she says that i can cancell that one and order the nokia. Which i did and this is where all the fun began... i changed the phone - or so i thought! after 18 calls on monday i still don't have a phone. Siyabonga phoned after i asked 4 people to email him to phone me. I thanked him very gratefully for phoning me and placing my order on 9310. Followed up today, 10310!
