No cust. service
About 2 weeks prior, we had a problem with our dish. I was on the phone for 1 hour trying to schedule someone to come out to fix it. after being transferred 6 times, i finally got someone to come out. i waited all day the next day... no one showed up. now mind you i have a 11 month old and work. i had to wait all day, they only come out between 12-5 and cant gibe you an approximate time. so i called back. they said it had never been scheduled. finally the next day we had someone and i had to reaarange my whole day. now two weeks later, the dish went out again. i spent 2 hours on the phone this time. i am now 7 weeks pregnat and have a dr appt tomorrow and cant wit around for them.i was put on hold 3 times each for 35 minutes and had to callback each time. now they said to have someone come out today they have to call an independent contractor. it is now 10:00 am that was 8 am and i still have heard nothing. do not ever use dish... we are cancelling and going to comcast.

FIre From Dish

FIre
After having Dish Network installed in our home for around two weeks and as we were downstairs the box in the upstairs bedroom caught fire. If we were not at home we more than likely lost evewrything we had. My wife and I both got minor burns to our hands as we unhooked it
i took it to the garage (which the door was open) and dumped the cats water and litter box on it to put it out. It not only burned our tv but other items as well as the smell removal and cleanong came in at around $2500 which Dish has refused to pay because they say some forgien object was in the box. Nothing could have been setting ontop of the box because there was an alarm clock there, we do have animals but none in that area or not enought ime from installation for any builtup of any kind. After Disn people came out it was noticed the installtion lacked a whole lot, wire laying inthe side yard, tools, including post hole digger, hammer, pliers, wrenchs and a half bag of concrete. But they contine to say nothing was their faulf. WATCH OUT!

Gross amounts of advertisments
TV Programming, that I am paying to watch, Contains an ever increasing amount of advertising, that I dont want to see!
One example of this was a Natl Geographic that program that showed the same commercial, Eleven (11) times during just one (1) show program: this was in addition to all of the other advertising during that period!
What can be done about this "Bombardment" of advertising that I dont want to see or listen to, and ever decreasing amount of the actual content of the program.
I am told by Dish Net, my supplier, that they "ARE NOT" responsible for the content of programming that they provide me with. If this denial of responsibility is true, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

poor installation /customer service
When I signed up for dish network(unfortunately before I read the pages and pages of internet complaints)my salesman assured me their own employees do the installation, not a subcontractor. I was at work when the sub
contractor showed up. My wife was at home and was unaware he was a subcontractor. He fastened the satellite cable to the shingles(yes the shingles)and ran the cable across front and back portion of my roof. He also didn't connect the recievers to my router/modem like he was supposed to do. When I complained to dish about the installation, they refer me to the installing company, who just keeps pointing out that we signed off on paperwork that we were satisfied with the install. Who climbs up on the roof when the installer is there to check the installation out? The installer also said we didn't need the recievers hooked up to the modem/router,
but also failed to inform us that we will be charged $5.00 extra per receiver every month as a result, supposedly because Dish has to send updates thru the satellite, instead of thru our internet connection.
Dish network is responsible for who they send out. I did not enter into an agreement with the subcontractor. When you call Dish network, their CSR's are very polite and friendly while they run an effective smoke screen
of referring you to someone else's voice mail that never returns your call. Time Warner Cable has offered to help me with the $250.00 termination Dish Network charges if I switch back. Hope that helps you other folks.

Not receiving service
We wanted the dish attached to the roof, but installer refused and put it off the back of the house.
Lo and behold, the leaves on the trees appeared, and our signal disappeared.
FOR OVER SEVEN WEEKS.
I called when the May bill came, after playing games, I was told I would be given a $50.00 credit towards the $70.00+ statement.
The next statement came. I was only given a credit of $44.95.
I called to ask for another credit as now it was going on two months.
In the meantime, the installer had come to move the dish, had problems, so left the thing in our garage on the floor for two weeks.
No ifs ands or buts, I would not be given another credit after trying to double talk to me.
I point blankly asked why they expect me to pay for a service they were not providing.
Got a bunch of s*** back.
DISH NETWORK CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. TOTALLY.

Overcharged
We just purchased a new HD TV and to be able to watch our TV in HD we have to pay a $10/month charge to dish. WHY? Why should they be able to charge me a month charge to be able to watch my TV the way it should be?

Profanity
I received a telephone call while I was at work on June 23, 2009. The message I received was that I was all set for hook-up of the Dish Network (everything was already paid for) and I just had to press the number 1 to confirm a time - The message said that I was also entitled to a $100.00 cash refund and I could get Disney Tickets also. I pressed the number one and was connected to a salesperson (Kevin) who asked me what I wanted to purchase. I explanined to him that I received the call about a hook up and wanted to know what time. He again asked me what I wanted to purchase. I told him I was called by Dish and told him what the message was. He in turn became very rude and told me that he did not care what the F***ing message said - did I want to buy the Dish package. I told him that he was calling a business and I did not appreciate the vulgar language and he slammed the telephone receiver down in my ear.
I am very upset by this call and the disgusting language that I had to be subjected to and I think you should stop with these misleading telephone calls. I have received other calls from the Dish Network at this telephone number and have repeatedly requested that this number be removed from the call list.
I think this reflects badly on your company that you have to resort to scam phone calls and rude salespeople.

an outraged dishnetwork customer
June 23, 2009
rip off customer by receiver testing
I have been with Dishnet work for 3 years.
1. I got numerous marketing calls from them after my first contract expired. They are trying to convince me to change to my spouse's account such that it would be a new account. They promised I would save money. However, it turned out NOT! Ever since that, whenever I got calls from DISHNETWORK, I hung up. I googled and found that FTC has been suing dishnetwork violating do not call rules! Looks like they don't care, and I still get marketing phone calls from them all the time!!!
2. In my first contract time with Dishnet work, they have always been charging me the program access fee ($5.00 per receiver) for not connecting the phone line. But I don't have a landline but only the voice over IP. This does not work with dishnetwork. I have to bite the bullet for that charge. I have confronted their customer support a lot of times and their so called supervisors why they charge me something I don't use?? They never gave me a good answer. I googled online and found that lots and lots of customers have also been treated in the same fashion.
3. recently I got something which is REALLY outstanding. They shut down my package service without notifying me by a written document. They claimed that they called me several time but cannot got hold of me. They want to test if my service works well. However, it did work well before they turned it off. The customer support was extremely rude and said I have to go through some testing and I have to follow them exactly. I found this online which best describe my situation:
"If you have multiple receivers on your account, Dish Network may call you and demand that you turn on each of your receivers and read a certain code that they send. From what I have read in another forum, this is kind of like getting a call from the Gestapo - they don't allow you to put them on hold or have any side conversations, and tough luck for you if someone answers the phone who is not capable of carrying out their instructions immediately and explicitly. I don't know if that policy has been modified in the past few months but I know it upset several of their users on the one DN forum I was reading a while back. Of course, if you never answer their call then they can't make you do anything (so you might want to think carefully about what number you give them, if you have more than one)."
Actually they have a better way now if you try to ignore them. They just shut you down without written notice. I think they violate the contract as in California without written documentation, verbal notice (I think including failed attempts) does not have legal binding.
After I failed the test as I am not "strictly following their instructions". They accused me that 1. I mute my phone which I did not 2. I had side conversation when I tried to find my remote control. Therefore, the receiver is unusable and I have to pay a separate account in order to get that box back. This is like robbing people daylight on the street. I have been spending a couple of hours arguing with them over the phone and am out raged!!

Overcharging/Fraudulent practices
I was charged for two months on my first bill, which stated this was a one-time issue, and that all future charges would occur each month. However, in May I had two months deducted from my credit card account again...then had another charge to my account in June. WHY AM I BEING DOUBLE-BILLED AGAIN, AFTER BEING ASSURED THAT THIS WAS ONLY A ONE-TIME ISSUE?? THEN HAVING CHARGES DEDUCTED FROM MY ACCOUNT AGAIN FOR JUNE??? I've never been credited for the $90.00 in cash that I paid to the outside-contractors that installed my equipment...the first installer arrived with only one receiver and no HD cable (stating this was our responsibility, which was NEVER communicated to us prior to this time...he told me to not tell anyone that he was leaving the installation "as is", as this would get him into trouble, ) and also told me that I must pay $50.00 to have a second dish installed on the cottage on our property, since the buildings were too far apart (I had made it clear to the rep that we may require an additional dish for this reason, and paid a deposit up front for this second dish...the installer only brought ONE with him, so was not equipped to do the installation as ordered, requiring me to be home for a second installer the following day, which was EXTREMELY inconvenient!!) When the second installer showed up the next day, he also told me that Dish Network required an additional $100.00 for the second dish!! I told him to forget it, and that I'd like to have my original $50.00 that I had paid to the first installer returned. He offered to sell me one of "his own dishes", which he had in his van, for $40.00, which I agreed to, but neither work order reflects the cash transactions!! (I was told by the representatives that the installers had me speak with on their cell phones that they did not have access to my billing information, so could not charge my credit card...I am set up on an "auto pay" program, so still do not understand why all people I spoke with and saw were wearing the Dish Network logo, driving vans with Dish Network logos on the side, and the reps over the phone told me they represented Dish Network.) Since this is the case, I expect Dish Network to resolve this issue immediately, or I will seek legal retribution...also, I paid $318.00 as a deposit for ALL equipment, even though I was supposed to receive TWO receivers for free (as advertised on the website)...I had to pay for the second receiver (as it was not HD like the other one), AND had to pay these additional cash fees for the additional dish. This was NOT represented to me by the person taking my order over the phone, and would appear to be a fraudulent practice.

Two weeks later, I received a letter stating that due to my poor credit history, I was no longer eligible for any of the specials I had signed up for at the time I placed my order...however, this is why I was required to pay the $318.00 deposit, as well as being required to be set up as an "auto pay" customer. Unfortunately, this "auto pay" system is taking liberties with my money, which is unauthorized and illegal.

I expect to see credits made to my account immediately. I am also reporting Dish Network to a Complaints website, as I have noted that there are hundreds more people like me that are very dissatisfied with the "bait and switch" tactics and over-charging that is taking place. For Dish Network to respond with forwarding information of the retailer that is in my area is NOT acceptable...I began placing my order by going to the Dish Network's main website. If I was forwarded to a retailer/outside contractor, it was without my knowledge, and they are not supporting the advertised services that Dish Network publishes on their corporate website.

VERY, VERY BAD FORM, DISH NETWORK...I suggest you contact your retailers and the outside contractors you have representing your logo, as they are conducting fraudulent practices, and I will take this to court if necessary.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. Please note, this is the third attempt to have these issues resolved, and there will be NO MORE opportunities for Dish Network to refund my money...that will be a court-0rder if I am not satisfied within the next billing cycle.
