Fifth Third Bank Reviews

Outrageous Fees
Fifth Third Bank steals its cutomer's money without a gun by charging its customers outrageous fees through a computer generated program which is designed to maximze fees which Fifth Third arbitraily charges it customers. I have sued Fifth Third Bank in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. The lawsuit I have filed alleges violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act and the Illinois Electronic Funds Act. After, I filed my lawsuit against Fifth Third, I discovered this web site which contains many complaints against Fifth Third by Illinois consumers and others. If you are tired of getting robbed by Fifth Third Bank. send me an e-mail

defamation of character
After informing Fifth Third Bank and their lawyers that I moved out of the home they foreclosed on they still take me to court
to evict me.
They just want to go out of their way to make sure I cannot rent an apartment anywhere.

Total disregard of customers
I was a faithful customer of Fifth Third Bank for years, always paying my loan payment on time. I am no longer a customer. I feel this is hands-down the WORST BANK EVER! I have dealt with many banks and creditors, and none of have shown more poor customer service than that of Fifth Third bank. They harass you by phone over piddly things related to your account, fraudulently slam you with interest-first loans without your knowledge, and much more. When you phone customer service, their reps are EXTREMELY rude and refuse to allow you to speak to supervisors. They say they care for their customers, yet treat them this way and offer no access to speak with supervisors or make any complaints about service. I would STRONGLY reccommend that people STAY AWAY from this bank or from getting anything financed through this bank. My family is now somehow in debt over $10, 000.00 to this bank and have made numerous efforts to resolve this, only to get ill-mannered trash reps who have no sense of common courtesy. FIFTH THIRD BANK IS HOOORRRIIIBBLLLEEE!

Outrageous Fees
I recently filed a lawsuit against Fifth Third Bank in Cook County, Illinois, which alleges violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act and the Illinois Electronic Funds Transfer Act. I now know that many of Fifth Third 's customers are complaining of large overdraft fees which Fifth Third charges its customers which are based upon theoretical overdrafts that Fifth Third''s computer program creates to enable Fifth Third to charge its customers. I also am a victim of Fifth Third's scheme to charge overdraft fees based upon a theoretical overdraft which recently cost me $198.00 If you are a victim of Fifth Third's scheme to charge overdraft fees which are based upon theoretical computer generated overdrafts, e-mail me if you would like to join a class action lawsuit against Fifth Third Bank.

Poor customer service!!!
I currently have a car loan with this bank and have had one since 09/2008, I was never late on a pymt. I went to my bank which is located in my home state on february 02, 2010 and re-financed my car and mailed a pay-off check that day. I called fifth third bank the next day to notify them about me already mailing the pay-off check and if they did not recieve it by my next car payment to call me. i got a call from a collections agency on february 26, 2010 about not paying my car payment on time and now i owe them collection fees and other charges, while claiming they never recieved my pay-off check. i have attempted to call and speak with mulitple persons and supervisors on this matter and have been given the run around telling me to call this number and talk to this person then i call and no-one will talk with me about this or get this resolved. i called my bank to get another check printed and mailed. both me and the manager and other employees of my bank have called to get the pay-off amount which i have been told cannot get because i owe collections. i was in my bank tonight and spoke with "Echo" manager of my bank and called fifth third bank and was they would not release info to me or her about getting this resolved. i spoke with "Eric" with fifth third bank and also "Karen" and "Chris" with this collection agency. fifth third bank will not give my bank the pay-off amount and have told me to call the collection agency but when i call the collection agency they tell me they dont know the pay-off amount. i have gotten no-where with this bank and they are not working with me. i called the post office and they claim the mail was delivered and not returned. i believe the bank is just trying to get as many fee money from me as they can and have charged me numerous fees that i cannot pay in order to get it re-financed and get the title to my bank.

Charges and late fee!
On the same day, I received two mail items from Fifth Third Bank. The first is a letter stating that they are reducing my credit line. The reasons given are 1) Time since most recent account opening is too short (I don't even know what that means!) 2) Lenth of revolving accounts have been established (again, makes no sense. My account was open too long or not long enough??) 3) number of established accounts (I have one account with them, which is a credit card I never even use.) 4) Current deposit balances (I have no balances with them, because I don't use their bank!) Ok, who cares. So, they lowered my credit line on a card I don't use. The second piece of mail is a statement for $39. It says I didn't pay $19 previous balance, so they are adding a $20 late fee. Not only have I NOT used that credit card for many, many months, so their is NO way I had a $19 balance, but I DID NOT RECIEVE A BILL LAST MONTH WITH THAT $19 MYSTERY CHARGE ON IT!!! Basically, they are reducing my credit line and trying to screw me out of $39 for nothing to boot. I will be calling tomorrow to discuss this, since their "customer service" line is not available now. I don't expect a resonable explanation or resolution. In fact, I remember that I quit using the card, because their online payment system was a joke. They would NOT allow payments to be made from any bank account other than with THEIR bank! I talked to them about how unreasonable that is and how ALL other credit cards allow online payments from ANY bank. I was told "They may allow that in the future." So, basically, I quit using the card, because the company sucks. Months later, they are proving AGAIN to me now much they suck!

Unethical Behavior
Fifth third bank raised the interest rate on an account with excellent payment history this February 2010. The account had been closed since April of 2009. They said they sent a letter allowing me to opt out of the interest rate increase in Nov. 2009. I didnot receive the letter. These letters typically say you may close the account and opt out of the rate increase. This account had been closed for eight months already when they supposedly sent the letter. Because I didnot get a letter and didnot opt out, they raised the rate. Its important to note how terribly unethical they are in this matter. This account had been closed for months. I should not have had to "close and opt out " with an already closed account. DO NOT BANK WITH FIFTH THIRD EVER!!

Checking Account
Had a checking account for years there, then the customer service aspect got so lousy it was unreal. If your lucky enough to find someone that actually understood english and could talk english you were lucky. Don't ever call them, best to just go to a branch to take care of your problem. Went to close the account and that was like having a tooth pulled. When I was finally able to close it I found out days later they had tacked on fees that was unwarrented. Finally got it straightened out. Took my business to Chase Bank and have never been happier. Avoid doing business with them at all cost.

Harassing Creditor Phone Calls
They are harassers. Our car payment was late by two days and they phoned us 10 times over a less than two-day period. Their representatives are either from India or the Phillipines and are rude and demeaning. I guess that is why their CEO rakes in 10 million a year. Cheap labor to harass their customers from across the ocean. Thank God our car is almost paid off. Avoid like the plague.

Will not honor own appraisal
Applied for a mortgage with them and paid for an appraisal. They refused to honor the appraisal (by one of their approved appraisers) and said my home was valued at 30% less than the appraisal, and in a declining market, which is not borne out by average home values in my area for the last 6-9 months.

I am self employed, and am convinced that they low balled the appraisal because they won't loan to a self employed individual. This is discriminatory, but they got away with it by ditching their own appraisal. This from a bank that received $3, 408, 000, 000 in Tarp funds!
