made up charges
This is the worst company i have ever done business with, they are rechargng me for a payment i made 4motnhs ago, saying that 3months after the payment was taking from my checking account that the bank reversed the payment.
my bank faxed them 3months of bank statments to prove that every month the payment was taking from my account and no credits from them ever to prove that no reversal has ever been made. that wasnt good enough for hughesnet and now they claming that a payment was never recieved. What more proof do they need!!

Beware
From the beginning we have been given false information. We were sold a plan for 5mb downloads for $114.00 (Order # 2760702)per month by adam employeee # 148926, then just before the installation we were told this service was not available and we were offered 2mb downloads for 89.99 (Pro 200)this was from Andrew. We asked if we would be able to stream videos, netflix and use the xbox live and were told NO PROBLEM!!! When the installer finally arrived he recommended we upgrade our router and insisted there would be no problem streaming videos, netflix, etc. So the day of the installation we go out and buy the latest and greatest wireless router for $160.00. Waste of money because Netflix downloads poorly if at all, then you are downgraded within a couple of hours for exceeding your daily downloads...We called customer service first because we had been charged $114.00 not the 89.99 and found out they had us down for the Pro 200 plus, which came with an ip address that we did not need... so they correct that mistake telling us they downgraded us employee (25575034. We said no this is not going to work for us. Since we are unable to download Netflix, or stream videos we don't need the 2gb service we want to be downgraded to the 1gb service with NO CONTRACT... He said He could not do this because we were already downgraded from the Pro 200 plus (Which we DID NOT ORDER) to the Pro 200 and then hung up on us... So once again I called hughesnet and spoke with allen whom refused to give me his employee id number. I requested to be transfered to a supervisor and after waiting 31 minutes was hung up on. I called back AGAIN... Once again I explained my dissatisfaction was supposed to be transfered to a Supervisor..(they lie about that also after an hour we learn this guy is NOT a supervisor either) So we waste over 2hours of our time with these idiots. the only good thing is all their conversations are recorded... So now we had to go back and request the logs of our original conversation and have documented the fact that we were told if we were not satisfied then we would be able to get the 1gb service with no contract... This is now where we are at... This company dangles a carrot in front of you and then pulls switch and bait tactics to string you along and lock you into a contract...We were previously with WildBlue for several years, we had completed our contract and the only reason we switched was because of the promises made to us... Which are recorded... Nothing makes you angrier then being taken advantage of a company that is being government subsidised...

Poor Service
Had the HUGE dish installed for HughesNet in a rural area. Picked the top service available for residential. Not only was the service very slow, less than .5 megs it could not be networked properly with my household network. On top of that the installer neglected to give me a copy of the contract he had me sign and the HughesNet support would not contact the subcontracted installer or get me a copy. The Manager actually hung up on me, go figure. Think twice, if you only have dial up it will be just as fast and far more secure and constant.

False Advertising
I have been with Hughes Net for about a year, nothing but problems. I have contacted them so many times it is not even funny. I have reported them to the FCC, Attorney General and they wrote them and said that the problem had been resolved. Took months to get a service man out and he replaced the modem, but the problem is not the equipment at your home the problem is with the shortage of power to supply all the new customers that they are adding by their false promise of HIGH SPEED. I thought I had something wrong with my computer for a long time, reloading, and recovering just to listen to a song is impossible at times. It is slower than dialup. They said I needed to upgrade to pro and my speed would increase. The only thing that increased was my bill. Some Attorney should really latch on to this and slap them with a class action. They know that when broadband spreads to all areas that they are out, that is why they will not spend a dime on customer service. You call customer service and you get someone in India or some other country that can not speak slow enough or in your language to even communicate. So if you want a large bill for nothing but to pull out your hair go ahead and sign on the dotted line. The tech that came out said that they were adding 5, 000 new customers a day and they can not supply the ones that they already have. Well I got out of the ETF with DishNetwork by gathering about 1000 complaints and mailing them with the threat of going to CNN, and every news station on the air and they called me back and said that they would waive the early termination fee. I have been talking with my attorney and they will get what they deserve, just like AT&T did when enough people got together and put a class action suit against them. Just suing them by yourself is nothing to them but if we band together then that means big bucks! I will sign any class action suit against these people for scamming the American public at a time when all are having problems making ends meet but the ones that are controlling this country. They are laughing all the way to the bank because they think we are just stupid laymen. And to tell you the truth we are for putting up with all the lies, bailouts that have been going on while the punks on wall street got record breaking bonuses last year. And the Bankers did also. Fed up! Are you?

Fair Access Policy/slow uploads and downloads
In 5/2008 I purchased Hughesnet due to living in the country and nothing else was available other than dial up. To this day 6/16/2011 I have had nothing but trouble. I use all my 200MB frequently and get put on a penalty for 24 hrs and it's slower than dial up. They offer you one FREE Token, per billing cycle, but that gets used up and then you have to pay $5 for each additional token you get for another 200MB!! Calling the customer service is a joke...Can't understand the people when they ask questions, so it's just a guess most of the time, but uploads improves for a day or two and then it all starts over again. . I was never informed of a FAP (Fair Access Policy) when the installation order was taken. If it rains, cloudy, foggy, etc. my speed is terrible. We customers of this company needs some help in getting this mess resolved. Very frustrated!!!

Installation/Customer Service
The installer arrived at a different time than scheduled and my grown son was here so he told the installer to go ahead. The installer put the satelite dish in front of my home 9 feet from my living room windows and 10 feet from my front steps and I live on 2 1/2 acres of land in a rural area. I immediately phoned Hughes Net when I arrived home and told them I was not satisfied. I told them to either come and move the dish or remove it. They now, without discussing any of this with me, have had an internal investiagation and informed me that since someone authorized the installation, (my son), I would have to pay to have the dish moved. I cannot get anywhere with anyone at HughesNet.

Changed service plan w/o notice
I have had HughesNet service for about 5 years. I have no choice other than satellite service where I live. I had a service tech to my house 4 separate times in the last month and finally decided that the equipment that I had since 2007 was failing. I chose to upgrade (they charged me for installation) to new hardware. The person setting this up must have also changed my service plan which has lower speed and a smaller download allowance. When I called to get my plan restored to the plan I had since 2007, I was told that plan no longer was offered. The account person told me that I'd have to pay $60 per month MORE for their new equivalent plan. This "new" plan is EXACTLY the same as what I had but with a higher price tag. When I said no, I wanted my old plan restored, I was told I could get a discount of $30 per month for 3 months. I again said no, so now he said I could have the plan discounted for 6 months. Well, I went to the supervisor with no better results and then to the manager again with no better results. Now I'm waiting for a call from "corporate" to see if I can get my service restored to my previous plan. I don't expect I'll get far. I'll update this when I get a response but I feel like I'm being robbed. Changing my plan without telling me is completely unacceptable.

Poor service
The technician came, but the problem has not been resolved.
He was supposed to call me back for a return appointment and also an appointment for the "cable guys", but I have not heard back from him nor have I received an email from Hughes Net concerning this issue. I am very close to canceling this service. I'm tired of not getting to speak with a "PERSON" or if I do I can't understand them or they can't understand me!!! When I first signed up in 2007 this was not the case. I'll go with my DISH subscription if you do not want my business. What has happened to your service?

Service
These guys totally misrepresent themselves. Their "high speed" internet service is very slow and very expensive. I endured the service for about 16 months and finally gave up. I live in a rural area so thought I had few options--turned out that I could replace HughesNet with Verizon's mifi system for less than half the cost and a lot more speed. When I called to cancel my account with Hughes I got the expected run around. They made all kinds of offers to get me to stay--when I insisted on canceling they threw the book at me--- the cancellation fee of course and the requirement to return all of their equipment, etc. Bottom line is that they have a lousy product/service. I cannot imagine they will be able to stay in business.
