First it was free- then $4.95 - Then they charged my debit $9.90 and still snly got old information! Immediately charged my account and just try and cancel service -- ha ha !

I was charged and paid $4.95 for a valid search that I undertook. However, every month thereafter they have been charging me $19.95 for a subscription service that I did not knowingly authorize. And I don't believe that I have ever actually received anything from them for this. Unfortunately for me it's been going on for 6 months before I noticed it. I have asked AMEX to investigate the billing so at least the last 60 days of charges will be reversed. I tried calling them and got the automated message essentialyy saying " your call is very important to us but we are experiencing a lot of call volume and it will take 20 minutes to get to you so please go to our website...click".

Seems like a scam company! The website looks pretty legit. ...management team and credible board. Surprised that they would be associated with this type of practice. Glad I noticed this before the sum of money got to be too large.

On June 2, 2009 I began looking for a friend I had not heard from for a period of time. I found the Intelius website and entered it. The initial lure was to be able to search for .99 (a one time charge). However, once I logged into the site and entered the name of the perons, I was unable to back out of the site when I saw that there would be a charge of $19.95 for Identity Theft. All I wanted was to search for a friend.

Because I was not able to get out of the site, the company has to have it rigged so that you can't leave. I have been charged on by credit card for two months of fees for Identity Theft subscriptions, which I did not subscribe to in the first place.

This is a deceptive way of this company to lock individuals into buying identity theft when I only wanted to search for a person.

What a bunch of crock.

This company needs to be shut down and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and given at least 50 years in jail!!!

I signed up for a 1-time transaction to perform a reverse telephone number look up for $2.95. I was VERY careful NOT to sign up for any type of monthly service, which I knew I did not want.

Afterwards on my monthly credit card statement, a charge of $19.95 began to appear. Three months later and $60 gone, I investigated further only to realize this company, INTELIUS, is a scam.

Obviously it is happening to many people.

My credit card company, Chase, cannot block the incoming charge so they simply report the card as stolen and reissue the card. I will file a disputed charge claim with Chase in an attempt to recover this money. I wonder how many people let these charges go bye month-to-month before they realize something is wrong? I suspect it's this precise delay in understanding the fraud in which the unethical sleezebags at Intelius earn their margin.

I sincerely pray they get exactly what's coming to them. The owners and knowing employees of this company are yet another example of the deceipt and greed in our otherwise great country. I do not wish them well.

I used this company one time for a search, paid for it, and then they charged me $19.95 on my credit card without my consent. They have refused to answer my emails and calls for a refund. DO NOT ever give this company your financial information. They are a fraudulent company and an unethical one.
