Unscrupulous Tactics
Unbelievable - got jammed by the same "$0.95 special" that's all over the internet by these crooks. My wife pays the bills and they have been bilking us $19.95 for the past 5 months; notwithstanding the arguement that ensued upon that discovery, I just got off the phone with Amy the customer service rep - said she couldn't give me my money back but could give me a free people search. I said, "Now why would I want to deal with you shifty people at this point?!?" She says, and I quote, "Well now that you know what NOT to do we can..." This is the point at which I can no longer post the rest of the conversation. This is their customer service?!? In essence, now that you know how we unscrupulously deceive people, you can do business with us on our level? Are there any attorneys out there who need a good class action lawsuit to pursue? Count me IN!

Unauthorized CC Charge
Paid for information about missing friend. Got no real info. Charges appearingon credit card for some kind of 'subscription'.

I just opened outlook to check my email, and this is one of my messages:

Thank you for using your PayPal Debit Card for your payment of $19.95 USD to INTELIUS SUBSCRIPTION 877-974-1563 WA.

I NEVER SUBSCRIBED OR PURCHASED ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS!
They are so shady that they don't have a customer service phone number, but they do have a sales phone number!
Luckily it's my Paypal account. They will investigate and refund my money.

There is a charge for $19.95 for a subscription, I never subscribed too.
I heard they do this a lot, and IT MUST STOP!

unauthorized charge
After an unsuccessful White pages people search my PC was directed to a business associate Intelius claiming they would be able to provide the phone # of the person I was trying to contact. There was a special discounted one time charge of $0.95 which I thought reasonable. I went ahead and attempted to gain the phone #. What I got was not a phone # but a bunch of addresses where it was apparent my long lost friend didn't reside.
There was a $0.95 charge made on my credit card. Two days later there was a $19.95 charge for unlimited lifetime search’s. I called Intelius about the charge and they claim I authorized the charge because somewhere in the verbiage about the discounted one time search charge was an agreement for the lifetime search charge. This may be so but why would a person agree to a discounted one time charge when they would get lifetime free charges? In my opinion, this is a scam. They did agree to remove the charge after my strong insistence.

Unauthorized Credit Card charge
In March 2009 I ordered a one time investigational search of an individual for $19.95. Since that time I have been charged $19.95
each month on my credit card bill for a INTELIUS subscription that
I never ordered and certainly did not agree to.

unauthorized bank drafts
I signed with Intelius in February to look up a phone number and address.. I got that information and authorized Intelius to draft $10.89 out of my checking account.. That was all that I authorized them to take out. Since then, they have taken out $19.95 on several ocassions without authorization.. I only needed it one time and I paid for it.. Now how do you stop them.. They sell you all that information about phone numbers and addresses, but they make it hard or impossible to get a number to call them and ask why they still keep robbing our bank accounts.. They need to make it as easy to cancel as they do to sign up.. What can the consumer do..

Cancelled subscription not cancelled
I cancelled the service after the first month as they services promised that they did not deliver and the company wanted to charge extra to provide additional information that was promised on the original offering.
Prior to signing up I phoned the company address stated on the website -877-974-1563 and confirmed that all of the services were offered for one cost. They said if I was not satisfied I could call back and after waiting on the phone for over an hour I cancelled the service. I believe I used the service several times before calling to cancel.
I have tried many times over the past few months to contact the company to ask them for a credit. I've been unable to get through on the pnone and we had to change our email so I'm unable to get in through the old email to get the password to enable me to get through without having to wait on the phone.
My husband is a retired Attorney and we signed up for the service based on unfulfilled promises. I should have been smarter. What can I do now? I've not had the $19.95 charged for well over a year and having just had a stroke I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with this stress.
