false people search reports
My wife paid for a people search providing a valid ssn and recieved wrong information which was confirmed by contacting the state, borough administration office.Many attempts were made by phone to address this problem and all we got was several twenty minute or longer waits that ended with phone line going dead.We want our money refunded and intelius SHUT DOWN

search monopoly
At one time there were dozens of free residential (white pages) and business (yellow pages) information search engines. Now almost all of the major search engines are powered by Intelius which is a fee based search engine. Intelius now controls such a large percentage of the web search engines that the supply of information services has become severely limited. Such horizontal integration is considered predatory and monopolistic as it limits the ability of the consumer to obtain the desired service at a competitive (formerly free) price.

Deceptive Billing Practices
If you intended to do a one time $4.95 property/neighborhood report, you are auotmagically subscribed (apparently) to their monthly indetity theft service at $19.95 per month -- there's some irony in this if you think about it.
Their markerkting practices are quite clever and equally deceptive. Further investigation out here in cyberspace confirms their sleeze bag practices.
And the the run around with them continues. I restroted to taking action with my bank.
Caveat emptor.

charged for no number found
Complaint sent for at least the 4th time to Intelius regarding Order #13350637:
If you will check your records, you will see that you could not locate the number for which I was looking. You charged my $9.95 (even tho originally it was to be $4.95) and I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN MY REFUND. I am sure this is just venting for no possible reason because I have contacted your company several times to no avail and this was July/August 2008.

UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES
I used this service once and authorized payment of .99$ on my credit card which they deducted. Then they charged my visa card $19.95 out this month without my authorization. I want to be refunded this amount ASAP and ensure they close use of my visa card. I have not been able to get them on the phone - waiting 20 minutes! I have sent them emails. Thank you.

UNAUTHORIZED CREDIT CARD WITHDRAWAL
MY WIFE PAID $.99 FOR A ONE TIME PHONE NUMBER CHECK. THEY HAVE CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD THREE TIMES FOR $19.95 AND WE HAVE JUST CAUGHT IT. I RECOMMEND CHECKING YOUR STATEMENT EVERY MONTH AS THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH WE HAVE CAUGHT UNAUTHRIZED CHARGES.

false charge
On 2/06 I approved a charge of $.95 for a warrent check, Transaction 17173390. This was taken from my account. Today I found a payment from my account to Intelius.com for $19.95 that was not authorized or explained. Transaction 17335479. Please return the $19.95 in my account and take me off your list.

I am currently being billed for two months of a subscription I never signed up for. You can not get ahold of anyone in costomer service and they tell you to email them but give you no address!
