horrid
This thing is terrible. I ordered two, and one simply did not work. The one that operates is unreliable at best. Do not rely on the voice mail. It is not functional most of the time. The only true use for this device is to make outgoing calls on it. Other than that, it is absolutely unreliable.

Unauthorized charges
Worked fine for the 1st month and a half. Overnight, it stopped working. Their website is as difficult to navigate as Walmarts'. It took me 30 minutes to find a Customer Chat line. I was disconnected from the chatline on 4 different occassions and spoke with 8 agents over a nine hour period. The piece of crap still doesn't work. No one of their end seems to know what their doing and everyone you talk to wants to walk you thru the same nine hundred steps wiping other software off your computer (that they say is incompatible with magicJack - funny thing it worked for over a month with that same software on my machine). The product is great in theory and useless in practice. If you threaten one of their agents by saying you're going to use some other voip service, they'll disconnect you. There is NO actual phone number to call and you can tell by their dialect, their 'agents' are not American. Which, in and of itself, is most likely half the problem. Take my advice folks - keep your 39.95 and use it to pay for 3 months of quality Vonage service. The only magic this jack has is the works one minute - broke the next magic!

DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED

Scam
I tried to buy a magicjack on their site. After putting in all my info, including credit card, it brought up a page that said "INTERNAL SERVER ERROR 500". Being a web programmer, i know that that means that there server had an internal error! :O) It has nothing to do with my browser, ISP, etc. Something failed on their end. So, my question was, did I get my order in? After a few clicks, I found the live chat on their site. Here is how that went.<P>Please wait for a site operator to respond.

Rob: I tried oedring the product. Entered my visa card and hit submit and the webpage said it had an error

it works. But, that link is not on the site. I only know it because you told me. Why is it hidden on the site?
And why did you tell me there was no software to install but there is? and why does s search for
'advertisements' come up empty, when your software places ads on my pc? Please answer these 3 questions

disk and all you have to do is just plug in the device.

Rob: never mind. 1) you lied to me and said no software is installed, when in fact it is, and it scans the
phone numbers I call and pops up ads. That is called spyware. Also, it can not be easily uninstalled. 2) The
phone number for customer service and the TOS and Privacy Policy are not easily available on the website
without someone like you having to tell me where to find it. The link should be right there on the front page.
3) The FAQ's do not address the ads, the TOS or the privacy policy. What are you afraid of? 4) According to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MagicJack, the Better Business Bureau has given your company an F rating and
thousands of complaints are on file for fraud and not being able to get their 30-day refund. So, please pass
this on to your upper managent. I am glad my order didnt go thru and now I have had time to read about things.
I will not use your service and I will make sure to tell everyone I know how fraudlent your policies are. The
fact that you lied directly to me is unacceptable. Good bye.

Unauthorized charges
I visited the magicjack.com website after seeing an advertisement for it online. I purchased the product and when it arrived it did not work as described. I have tried contacting anyone from the company. At the website there is no 800 number online online assistance in the form of a internet operator who gives live help with names like Janice or Robert. In reality the person you are speaking to is located in an office in India or Europe, but not in the States. They need to teach the it guys or girls there better English. I assume that is why there is no direct 1800 number
I have tried configuring my pc in every fashion suggested bye the online operators there. This product has never worked as described. I will admit for a month calls would actually go through but would never allow me to complete the calls. They would drop all the time. I have asked the online operator, IT people on numerous occasions for a phone number to call so that I may speak with someone about returning the product and attaining a refund. Every time I asked they either avoid the question and or just drop my session online with them.
If I steal from anyone in the State of New York in the United States, or any other state for that matter, I would be arrested for theft. Why am I allowed to be robbed? Why is someone not being arrested? This hurts and frustrates me and I would like retribution in the form of a refund or a government agency to fine them or shut down the site. These people are thieves and this needs to stop immediately!

want to return merchendise
I'm a senior citzen and recieved and advertisement for this item magicjack on a 30 day trial and when I recieved the item I found it will not work without a High Speed internet Connection or cable internet. I have neither one, only regular telephone line conection. I have tried to return the merchindise but there is no service available. Where do I return this item and get a credit on my card.

will not give refund
I ordered the MagicJack, received it, but never opened it because I was still trying to ascertain the cost/involvement of dropping my land line. Turns out that I would not be able to drop my land line without a ton of hassle, so I opted to return the MagicJack. When I requested an RMA, they refused me because I was past the 30-day return deadline. Their customer service was HORRIBLE. I even spoke to a "supervisor" who was more rude than the customer rep! They were not interested at all in my plight and would not provide me any info about management or anyone else to contact. To date, I am stuck with the unopened product and the bill for the product. WHAT A HUGE RIP OFF! I even e-mailed their site and of course got no response... Companies like this should be illegal.

Billing
Customer Service is a joke. I used my debit card to order the magicjack, to try the 30-day free trial. After the transaction was completed a little bubble pops up on the computer screen informing me that the use of a debit card will result in the full amount of the purchase being debited immediately. The advertisement said that cards would be debited on the 31st day after the trial ended, if the magicjack had not been returned. I immediately, like five minutes after I ordered it, informed them that I wanted to cancel everything. I was informed that the money would be returned to my account after three business days. Guess what? Didn't Happen. Chatted, no phone available, with customer service and got a smart-mouthed amateur, who informed me that I was misinformed, and it would take thirty days. Guess what? Thirty days passed... no money. My bank is havine to investigate and go after the money. It's a scam. I would not recommend this amateur, basement run, company to anyone. I guess they'll keep my $90.00 and I'm screwed.
