Test Prep Services Reviews

Test Prep Services(TPS)..What a farce. Here is my experience with them. In September, my wife received a call stating that we had expressed interest in their program for helping future college kids improve their grades. In today’s competitive environment getting into college, she thought we give it a go. We received the disks, but it wouldn’t load onto our iMac. After a few calls, got a call back from Mike asking to try another method. When that failed, I called and got a call back. At that time, I asked for the return number they insisted on using and sent the disk back via UPS. I was informed once they had the disc’s, they would issue me a check for the cost of the disk, but not shipping. A few weeks later, I sent an e-mail and called(Going to mention that whenever I called, I always got a recording, never a person) inquiring about my refund. I got a call back, stating that Test prep had sent me an e-mail, using the email address I sent from. (Going to mention that he stated he sent me numerous e-mails, none of which I received. I get spam email all the time, but can’t get theirs!). The rep stated they never received the return and for me to contact UPS, claiming a lost package. UPS had sent me an e-mail stating package was delivered. I contacted UPS, stating that TPS claimed they didn’t get the return. UPS started a lost package claim. After many calls back and forth, UPS sent me another notice that TPS did in fact receive the package, which I forwarded to TPS. Once more, I had to call. When I got a call back, TPS stated he knew nothing on the notice and that I filed a lost package claim. I kinda’ blew a gasket and informed him I had sent the UPS notice to them, at which time he admitted, “oh, that email” and that he forwarded it accounting to pay me. By this time, 60 days from purchase had passed. I called the CC company and they stated has 60 days had passed, they couldn’t do anything. In one phone call, TPS did give me an e-mail, which was bogus. After getting more BS from TPS, I called my CC Company back, claiming theft and fraud. I told them the whole story and that I had proof the items had been returned. They sent me to another department and when I explain to them what happened, they stated they would start an investigation. I gave them the tracking number from UPS and faxed them the letter from UPS, stating TPS had indeed acknowledged they received my return. Much to my surprise, a week or so later, I received a letter from my CC company stating that the full amount, cost of discs plus shipping, had been credited to my account. I might add that whenever TPS called me, the number was always had an odd area code and didn’t take call backs.

Did not honor guarrantee/refund
TPS has acknowledged receipt of the returned software and
documentation. Customer Service has said refunds
are usually processed in 24 hours and says they escalated with
the accounting group but I still have not received my
refund. I have exchanged multiple emails with them
regarding the status of the refund over the past couple months
but all I get is promises that they will follow up, that it
should be paid soon, that they are sorry it is taking so long,
basically a long list of excuses but nothing is ever done. At this point it appears I will be out the $199.95.

Vindictive Postings
In our weekly company meeting this week it was brought to our atttention that there have been some negative postings directed at the company I've been with for almost 6 years now and it's owner, Ira Pupko. The company is Test Prep Services. I'm not writing at the imploring of ANYONE or ANYTHING other than my own sense of right and wrong and sense of fair play. And justice. I'm so angry at what I spent a few hours last night reading that I can hardly contain myself. I love the internet...it has changed the world. But there is a drawback as it exists today; people who for whatever reason feel the need to be vindictive can do so anonymously and therefore with impunity. Our Justice System is in large part what makes this country great, and that Justice System specifically states that the accused has the right to face his accusers. This is not the case on the internet, however, and I'm sorry but I'm going to open my mouth here whether I'm asked to or not. I will NOT stand idly by and let a couple of misanthropes libel the man I've worked for for going on 6 years, and the company I've watched Ira build from the ground up by working 100 hours a week, brought down by the likes of a couple of vindictive misfits whom the company had the misfortune of mistakenly hiring. Given our model, which relys on the hiring of Independent Consultants to work from their respective homes after being extensively trained, the company must enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy with respect to how its agents comport themselves in all ways. THe company enforces compliance with repect to how our product is represened, and in how the company is represented. In other words, we are expected to remain professional at all times and in all ways. Very occassionally, an individual proves to be unworthy of the position he has been entrusted with and is let go. Obviously, this can anger certain individuals, understandably, but I dare say that business isn't always like a day at Disneyland and business is business and feathers can get ruffled. My boss does, in fact, have a bit of a temper at times, but he has always...ALWAYS been fair and honest with me, and he has ALWAYS treated me with proper courtesy and respect and usually, kindness. I dare say that this is the scentiment that prevails within the company and though many, if not most of us work in our respective homes and have not met face to face, we have nonetheless been togehter...most of us...for years and we do talk. Either through the predictive dialer we do business on or via emailing and/or over the phone. We talk. It is an absolute effrontery on Ira and the company to post that this company is a "scam" or that Ira is, as I read last night, "a homosexual paedophile from Israel"...several offensive things that people who know the man and people who have actually been with the company find offensive. I have ALWAYS gotten paid on time and correctly. I would guess that everyone else here can say the same or they wouldn't be here.
I'm done...I have to be I have to get back to work, but shame shame shame on the people who must hold themselves in such little regard that they would not hesitate to slander and libel a man who I know first-hand works hard to do the right thing by the public and his people. Most of what I've read on the net is just plain vindictive and wrong!

TPS IS A FRAUD!! DO NOT BUY FROM TPS!!
Received phone call from TPS, advertising that they have the Test Prep materials on sale, and claimed that they knew my phone number because my daughter had taken the PSAT Exam. First they asked for my credit card or debit card number, but I didn't give it to them. So the woman on the phone told me that they can take electronic checks on their website. I did the eCheck under her instructions on their website at https://www.testprepservices.org/

I purchased a gold package for a total of $184.90; my online record of my bank transactions shows that TPS has received my payment 2 days later. The woman on the phone told me that I have 30 period and may return the materials for any reason and get a FULL refund. DID NOT MENTION THE $20 RESTOCKING FEE AND 14.95 SHIPPING FEE THAT THEY DO DON'T RETURN.

After the mail arrived, I was disappointed that it was not the newest edition (the thing is only worth about 30 dollars elsewhere) and thus immediately contacted TPS for refund. It took me 3-4 e-mails until I got a response. THEIR PHONE NUMBER NEVER WORKS (always says the voice mail is full). It was then that I was informed about the shipping fee and 20 dollar restocking fee, EVEN THOUGH NONE OF THE PACKAGE WAS OPENED. So my correct refund should be 184.90 minus 14.95 and 20 equals $149.95

However, they only refunded me $35.92 THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY THEY ONLY RECEIVED $35.92 FROM ME IN THE FIRST PLACE. I e-mailed COUNTLESS times, showing them the receipt that they gave me and my bank transaction record several times. They still denied the fact I paid them $184.90

The funny part is, if I only paid them 35.92, why would they send their products to me in the first place? Yes, I even asked them this question through e-mails, so they told me that it was sent by mistake. Nice try, TPS. Even a three-years-old would not fall for that lame excuse. (also, since I did an Electronic Check on their own website, its not like I can choose the amount to pay, the payment due is set in stone, which was 184.90)

I knew they were trying to defraud me. So I reported them on Federal Bureau of Investigation - Internet Fraud at http://www.fbi.gov/majcases/fraud/internetschemes.htm; as soon as my complaint was accepted by the IC3, TPS e-mailed me saying that they refunded me the remaining amount of $114.03, but still denied the fact that I paid $184.90, even though I have showed them every evidences. (they said something like:"sir, we went ahead and refunded you, even though we have no evidence on our end")

No money came into my account 3 days later, so I contacted them again. This time TPS told me that MY OWN BANK REJECTED THEIR REFUND, and asked me to contact my bank. So I called my bank and the bank assured me that since TPS has already withdrew ($184.90) and deposited ($35.92) to my checking account, my bank would NEVER reject their refund.

Again, TPS tried to defraud me. Outraged, I e-mailed another 5 or 6 e-mails asking them to show some honesty and correct their business attitude. They told me that the only way they can refund is if they can talk to my bank with me on the phone. I guess they tried to create as much trouble as they can to stop me from requesting my refund.

So I called my bank and asked my bank agent to get on a 3-way with TPS. After the 3-way was on, TPS even said to my bank agent that its bank service shows that I paid only $35.92, so MY BANK AGENT ASSURED TPS THAT THEIR COMPANY HAD TAKEN $184.90 OUT OF MY ACCOUNT.

After that, TPS went on saying that they are really frustrated because my bank rejected their refund, so my bank agent told them that would never happened because TPS has already done transactions with my checking account.

At last, TPS said their newest refund attempt is being reviewed and if it does not go through, they will hand-write a check and mail it to me. So 3 days later, my bank account received the rest of the refund of $114.03. The whole process took over a MONTH (and yes, even though they tried to respond slowly and give me troubles so I am out of the 30 day trial period, I still managed to get my money back). If I did not do all the work that I did, my monetary loss would have been $114.03. Even though I did get back the money, TPS has wasted me a lot of energy and precious time.

TPS is a FRAUD!! They have no honesty or integrity that a proper business has. I had to chase after them for the rightful refund that I deserved.

The few attachments show the return policy that TPS posted on their website; my purchase receipt that TPS gave me; and a screen shot of my transactions with TPS. The last screen shot show the final refund of 114.03 Every piece of evidence shows that TPS tried to defraud me and shows how long it took for them to finally refund the correct amount.

If you are unfortunately defrauded by them, DON'T GIVE IN!! Try everything out there to get your money back, I successfully got my rightful refund, you can too. Just remember, their lies don't stand a chance, because you got all the reasons and evidences!

Again, TPS IS A FRAUD. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

BBB "F" rating
The BBB gives Test Prep Services an "F" rating, and states: "We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices."

No Response
I too have the same problem - I was told I would have 30 days to evaluate product and could return for any reason and receive a full refund less $14.95 for delivery. NO mention was made about any restocking fee. Our son, as senior, has decided he is not going to retake the ACT test and therefore we do not need this product, I am within the 30 day time limit and have sent two emails and left 2 telephone messages, but had no response whatsoever. I have now contacted my credit card company to file a dispute and have found out that it is a Paypal transaction so I am contacting Paypal to file dispute ... BEWARE!

Possibly Fradulent
After my son took a practice SAT test at his school, I was phone about test prep materials that could help him. I was told that if I was not satisfied with the materials, I "must" call before 30 days have passed to return the materials for a refund of the nearly $180 cost. Additionally, there would be access to a website which would be free during the first 30 days, but that would automatically be charged $54.95 each month thereafter.

The materials come packed with letterhead sporting a Eureka One-On-One Review, LLC logo, but upon calling Eureka for the refund, they state that they do not charge people for the materials and that they do not conduct business in this fashion. A smaller card without any kind of a logo inserted with the Eureka materials states that "Test Prep Services" is the company who evidently has charged me and is conducting this concerning practice.

After I called today, I was told I was past the 30 days (I wasn't...) and after much discussion, two offers were made for my refund: 1) $139 for a "processing & restocking fee;" and 2) $100 if I just wanted to hand on to the CDs anyway.

Clearly, something is wrong here.
