Inability to deliver
Attempted to have three videotapes delivered to Hartford-Springfield area from Stonington, CT day after storm dumped snow on region. 12-20 inches of snow, but by noon time, the roads were cleared and passable. FedEx is usual carrier we use, but could not find out when they would be picking up, but was told on 800 number that Norwich shipping center was open. Drove there to find it was not open at all. Went to UPS facility in Waterford and they were open, left 3 packages there with promise that their trucks were running to get tapes to destination by next day. Next day comes, no delivery. Turns out their trucks did not roll overnight to move pkgs to distribution centers for Hartford. I went back and took two of the pkgs, leaving a third for Chicopee, MA with assurances it would be delivered next day. I drove the two tapes to Hartford area and personally dropped them off and got refund from UPS. Friday, turns out the last package only made it to West Springfield facility, about 5 miles from final destination, but not on local truck. Adverse weather conditions listed as blame on tracking system. Snow had stopped 48 hours ago and it's been sunny!!! Can I contact shipping center and go pick it up and deliver it myself? They won't accept incoming calls. No way for national phone ops to contact them, so I have to check back later...any chance of delivery on Saturday. "No, sir, this package wasn't scheduled for Saturday delivery!" Well, duh, I thought 2 days was good enough to go 60 miles! I was okay to drive them myself, but I believed the BS from the customer reps locally and on line and now my program is not going to make it's air time. Think I'm turning to USPS because somehow, beyond imagination, they were out on Wednesday making their rounds despite the "adverse weather." And cheaper, too! I understand there was snow, but I was able to get around with no problem, the roads were open and passable by noon on Wednesday, but both FEDEX and UPS were not willing to go the extra mile. And I'm supposed to depend on them, especially when they don't tell me the true story. Leaves me angry.

Denial of Claim
I shipped a package, tracking number 1Z1139WR4299407795 that was delivered damaged, hole in the box. I use ULine packing boxes and I double boxed the items (2 items). One item broke. Something penetrated the outside box, went thru the peanuts, penetrated the inside box, went thru more peanuts and bubble wrap and hit the items - from viewing the hole, it was a long thin object. There was 3" packing around 2 sides and 3" packing around other 2 sides. The side that got hit had the 3" packing. There was ONE piece of newspaper that I put inbetween the two 5" high boxes when stacking them in the 14" box just so they had a bit of extra cushion between the two inside boxes. UPS did NOT go out to inspect but rather told MY CUSTOMER to send them pictures. My customer sent what he thought they needed. UPS denied my claim as "improper packing! . I just got the pictures and reviewed them - without actually seeing the packing and items in it, there is no way for someone to be able to make a determination on those pictures. I have tried since last week to get the claims person assigned (April) to give me a call back, to no avail. I read the UPS guidelines and it states UPS will inspect the package either at the customer's location or take it to the UPS office. They should have never contacted my customer and asked them to take pictures for the decision because they were too lazy to go out and inspect. It looks like UPS is contracting out to Crawford to investigate claims as I got the first denial from them. This is unacceptable. I shipped with UPS, I purchased insurance. I buy professional shipping boxes, double box, use peanuts/bubblewrap. This package couldn't have been packed any better. I've been trying to get this resolved since 12/24. My experience with UPS before this has been wonderful. No damaged packages, always on time, and their prices were reasonable. I actually liked to use them better than USPS. But this experience has made me rethink shipping again with UPS. It's only the 2nd claim with UPS I've had as a shipper in THREE years. The first one was handled properly; this one was handled badly from day 1. Seems the UPS delivery guy should have reported it damaged (per the UPS documentation I've read) since the hole was very evident.

Scam
I shipped a package (an 11" x 14" envelope) from California to Ontario Canada. I went into my local UPS office. The charge was already kinda high--$18 for non-rush delivery, but I paid it. Little did I know that they would hold the package and charge the recipient an additional $50 to deliver it! Additional fees by UPS were never disclosed to me at the time of shipping. They charge a "customs handling fee" that the recipient or myself had to pay. When I argued the charge, and my recipient balked, they wanted $30 to ship it back to me! They said if I didn't pay up, or she didn't pay the $50 to get the package, they would destroy it by Friday! This was a gift, handmade by myself, and I didn't want it destroyed. We wound up having to pay the $50. UPS is a rip off, and I will never use them again.

Wasted my time
I ordered a phone, when it as finally available it was shipped UPS one-day delivery. I waited around all day, the tracking number said it was all good for on time delivery today. Finally, at 8:30 PM I called customer service, with online tracking STILL saying it would be delivered today. Customer service told me that it wouldn't be delivered until tomorrow, because they didn't get the package in time. That's a lie -- their online tracking information says it left Kentucky or Tennessee at 12:14 AM EST this morning, and that it arrived in California about 75 miles from me at 8:43 PST this morning. Twelve hours later, with the online system telling me it's still on time for delivery today, suddenly it's tomorrow because they "Didn't get it in time." If you didn't get it in time, you shouldn't have had your computer tell me ALL DAY that it would be delivered TODAY.

Claims
We shipped cases of product to Canada via UPS on 11/23/10. The Driver gave us the tracking numbers, but did not have paperwork, he took the cases and said he would return with the paperwork but did not return. We were called and informed that only 4 cases arrived and 1 was damaged. We called our local UPS office in Tampa and tried a trace the Rep Chrystal Durocher would said here system could only find 1 tracking number as being picked up, but did not show a delivery. Afetr 4 weeks with no answer from Chrystal, we called trying to place a claim- ended up, after getting shunted thru 4 other people, to a person named Jaoquin who also confirmed that there was a recoed of a pick up for 1 tracking number, but no delivery. I told him that there was already 4 cases delivered and there was a damaged case, and that I was being honest and not claiming for the entire shipment. He said he would start an investigation. Today, 1/6/11- i received a call from a person at UPS named "Unique" who now said there was no recored whatsoever of any pick-up on any cases (the pick-up record must have majically disappeared). Unique also stated that since there was no paperwork, UPS would not honor any claim, but that we should call for an inspection of the damaged case that they returned so perhaps a claim could be filed on that. To sum up- UPS makes a delivery, returns a damaged case and claims there was never any pick-up so they won't have to pay a claim (oh yeah, and majically has disappearing records). Hope this helps people choose who to use for package deliveries, for me it will no longer be UPS and every business contact that I know is getting a copy of this post.

UPS Damaged 1 Pkg & Didn't Deliver Remaining 4
My biggest mistake EVER was ordering my entire New Year's Eve outfit 2 days before New Year's Eve and expecting that overnight delivery via UPS would actually work out for me. *sighs* UPS is the WORSE DELIVERY SERVICE. I had 5 packages that were to be delivered via UPS. I placed my orders on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 with Victoria's Secret and Amazon.com. I chose one day shipping so my packages would arrive the next day on Thursday, December 30th. Everything seem to be going well. When I checked all my UPS tracking numbers the morning of Thursday, December 30th all packages were out for delivery.
Well except one. 1 package out of the 5 total there was an exception given to it.."DAMAGE REPORTED / DAMAGE CLAIM UNDER INVESTIGATIONMERCHANDISE IS MISSING. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH ADDITIONAL DETAILS. / ALL MERCHANDISE MISSING, EMPTY CARTON WAS DISCARDED. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH DETAILS OF THE DAMAGE" Goodness gracious!!! So already 1 of my UPS packages would not be delivered to me. Thank goodness that was just a bracelet and not a major factor to me. And Amazon immediately issued me a full refund for both the item price and shipping charge. Such a shame that Amazon had to clean up UPS's mess.
So ok.. on to the remaining 4 packages. I kept checking all day regarding status. They all kept the status out for delivery. I live in Brooklyn, NY where the major blizzard hit. And granted, there is difficulty navigating the streets due to lack of snow removal, etc.. I will admit that. However, I don't know how Dominos pizza delivery guys driving little Toyota Corollas, Cablevison technicians, FED EX delivery guys, ordinary people driving, navigates the streets just fine but UPS with their huge, big, brown trucks can't. They are the only ones that seem to have issues with delivering anything. Yeah, ok.
So anyway.. after calling UPS about 5 times through out the day regarding my delivery and them assuring me it will definitely be delivered today, I just felt something wasn't right. But UPS kept telling me, driver is still out with the package, it's peak season, drivers can deliver up until very late (even said as late as 10:30PM). ROTFL!! What a JOKE! But I indulged all the bs UPS was feeding me even though I knew better. I have dealt with UPS's horrible delivery service for more than 10 years. I KNOW better. I am used to their ridiculousness.
Finally around 8:30PM EST I just knew that UPS was not coming. After being lied to and given the run around and me questioning UPS, etc.. I was finally told that there was an EXCEPTION for my 4 packages. "EMERGENCY CONDITIONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL".. Oh how did I already know UPS was going to use the weather and snow as an excuse not to deliver?
So I was so livid at this point because I paid for next day delivery and UPS just would not give me a straight answer about delivery! They knew they was not able to deliver to me today for whatever bs reason they gave! So then I spoke to a William at UPS who told me my packages would be out for delivery tomorrow. I just don't trust UPS to even deliver tomorrow. If there are "supposed" emergency conditions today beyond UPS's control, how is that going to change by tomorrow? I asked the UPS representative can I just pick up my own packages. Its quite funny that UPS can't deliver to me, but I can get to them to pick up my packages. There are no emergency conditions beyond my control stopping me. *eyeroll* This representative William is going to tell me that yes I can pick up my packages and gave me the address of 10401 Foster Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11236. That is my local UPS horrible facility. I asked him what time I can pick up my packages. He tells me that first thing in the morning someone from UPS will call me to confirm a time. But then he tells me that the local facility is closed tomorrow (Friday, Dec 31 - New Year's Eve). I asked him how the heck will I be able to pick up my packages if the local facility is closed then? He said no worries I will still be able to and someone will contact me. That made NO SENSE to me. I just said whatever. I didn't believe ANYTHING he told me. William sounded like he was just saying anything to try and pretend to give good customer service.
After I hung up with the UPS rep William, unsatisfied with his bs service I called both shippers, Victoria's Secret and Amazon.com. Victoria's Secret provided me a full refund for this horrible UPS non-delivery. Again, Victoria's Secret cleaning up UPS's mess. And then I called Amazon.com and told them what a horrible UPS experience I was having with their packages being delivered. Amazon did a 3-way conference call with me and UPS. I spoke to yet another UPS rep (a woman this time) who said the conditions beyond UPS's control could be weather related. It could be that they are back logged with deliveries due to the weather. But ummmm, can someone please tell me how that is my problem when I paid for next day delivery? If UPS is back logged why are they even accepting more next day packages to deliver?! But also, this rep told me she is going to change the packages status back to just me waiting on delivery tomorrow. She said the facility is indeed closed tomorrow (Friday, Dec 31 - New Year's Eve) and the next available pick up would be for Monday, January 3. So why did William give me different WRONG information? So she changed it back to me taking the chance for delivery tomorrow. Being that my packages are all Next Day Air Savers, those packages are the ones being delivered on December 31. But I am 99% sure my packages won't be delivered. And if they aren't, whenever UPS does decide to deliver I will just refuse the order and send the packages back to Victoria's Secrets and Amazon being that they were not delivered when I needed them and therefore are of no use to me anymore.
I am so sick of UPS's horrible service and will avoid them as a delivery service at all costs. I will try and stick to Fed Ex, DHL, even USPS. And again.. the local UPS facility at 10401 Foster Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11236 is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! I won't even attempt to speak to a supervisor at that location in the morning as I was advised. I am sure the supervisor won't give a damn either about my packages.

Overcharges
I took to UPS Store a keyboard, weight about 5#, Dim about 30" x 10" x 6", for packing (w/50% off coupon packaging) and ground shipped to Lehighton, PA zip 18235. The bill, was $109.33. The more I thought the angrier I became. I've notified the recipient to keep packaging and I will be lodging a complaint w/UPS upper admin, as well as disputing it w/Visa I contacted UPS and got a happy little form letter that the UPS is an independent contractor and UPS can do nothing. I am outraged and will be spreading the word.

driver gave a false statement
UPS driver gave a false statement by saying customer(receiver) refused the shipping, because we had an issue with the UPS DRIVER before.I didn't refused my shipping, and i didn't see the UPS DRIVER AT ALL. I tried to contact customer service, and complained about him, they took my compliant and said the manager will contact me and his name is MARK, but MARK didn't contact me. No wondering welcome to UPS, because that's what i deserve as a customer from UPS.

Package Delivery, Poor Customer Service
UPS World Headquarters
Attn: Jennifer Spencer
55 Glenlake Parkway NE
Atlanta, GA 30328
(404) 828-4900
UPS training policies and their management's complete disregard for CUSTOMER SERVICE combined with employees who don't give a damn appears to be the problem with UPS.
A new UPS Driver in Champaign, Illinois has ruined my YEARS of previous excellent satisfaction with UPS services. The regular delivery person for my neighborhood is outstanding. But, the new driver, this week demonstrated a side of UPS that left me unsettled. The new driver rang the doorbell, and I immediately answered, I could see the UPS truck, but the driver had gone next door. I didn't see a package at my door and assumed that he rang my bell by mistake. As the driver is returning to his truck, he says that he threw the package in the bushes. I asked why he would do that, the driver asked if I'd rather have the package stolen. Tough call- package left at the door or thrown into the snow (in a cardboard box)? It's a no brainer. The driver confidently defends his training of placing items in the bushes and snow because the snow was not melting.
Watch the UPS driver defend his actions on YouTube: " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1qUd9na_PQ "
A manager or supervisor (Sarah) from the Urbana, Illinois office somewhat defended this position stating that he should have placed the package in a plastic bag before putting into the snow and bushes.; search for "Moronic UPS Driver Leaves Package In Snow." I am highly disappointed that UPS allows this. Electronic items are NOT cheap and it's simply not right to place cardboard boxes containing electronics in the snow. Big Brown let me down, today.
