Data Packages
Talk about price gouging at the gas tanks what about Verizon price gouging with forcing people to pay for a data package unless you go with one of their cheapest phones possible. Using the internet or data on a cell phone is useless and we did try it and we were unable to open any attachments...it was useless. This is a true ripoff for Verizon and I hope they go down. We got rid of our landline because they kept creaping upwards. The same thing is going to happen with wireless. We have other options and we will be leaving Verizon. What a SCAM!

Forced Internet (at $10/mo)
WARNING! Verizon is now forcing consumers to take internet service at $10/month on most all of their phones. Never announced, not marketed, new policy. So I have to choose between a junky phone that won't last the two years or stongarm me into a phone at an additional $120! To top it off, they do NOT tell you that it's limited to 25 megabytes of data! Two relatives got and didn't realize usage was capped!

Verizon, hear me loud and clear - your business ethics are dispicable, not what consuemrs want, and are shady. YOU will be reported and I will be saying bye-bye along with 7 of my family members.

LIES - DECEIT - SHADY = Verizon

Awful service
I called and tried to start service and was told 2 weeks. Ok...Cool. Then I was told I needed to be there all day. I waited until 1pm and called the 800# and was told they were going to get to me later. The Customer service is very poor. They never showed up. Lost a full days wages and in times like these, forget it.

cancelled account and still charged
I ordered the DSL service from Verizon Dec. 12th, 2009. There was no signed contract just a verbal agreement with the sales rep who told me there was a 30 days money back guarantee and that my credit card would not be charged until I installed it onto my computer. I then got messages from Verizon stating my activation date was moved later a couple weeks so I cancelled my order Dec. 15th. I hadn't even received the product yet. I spoke with rep Thelma who gave me a confirmation # and emailed me a return shipping label for UPS she stated I would not be charged anything if I returned it in the next few weeks. So I got the package in the mail, never opened it never installed it. I went to UPS and dropped it off and got a receipt for this on 12/19. I get a message on my phone stating that my account was activated on 1/6/10. I called to Verizon again and told them my account should never have been activated as I already returned the product and cancelled it a couple weeks ago! The rep told me that she did see it was received about a week before and no one cancelled my account. So she advised a manager would cancel it for me and that I would not be charged. I specifically clarified with her that I was not charged and that my card would not ever be charged she said yes. So a couple weeks later a charge of $67.51 shows up on my credit card statement! I called and asked for a manager - Angela - who was no help at all. She didn't offer to try to look into the situation and just told me that I agreed to this and that it will take up to 2 months for a refund! The person who transferred me to the manager said she didn't even show in her computer system that I had cancelled it back in December and said they only showed when I called 1/6/10 after my account was activated. I have a confirmation number, an email saved from the rep I spoke with. I tried explaining to the manager that I was told something different than what she is saying to me now and that all the reps I spoke with before told me I would not be charged. The only thing Angela told me to do is to write the Service Response Center and they would get back to me in a month! She would not give me her phone number, an email or any phone number to call corporate. I asked to speak with her manager and she just told me I couldn't and that no one was there anyway to speak with. Soooo ridiculous. I don't know if the product itself is good or not but the way I have been treated by Verizon employees and none of them following through on their promises to take care of the situation and telling me it will take 2 months for a refund to me has been the worst customer service experience I've had. I, myself, work as a customer service rep in the insurance industry. I would never treat a client of mine like this and no manager of mine would tell a client they wouldn't try to help them or make things rights. Also, there shouldn't be any reason why there is no documentation of my calls. This has frustrated me so much dealing with this for the last month and a half I am now making a point to let everyone know not to deal with Verizon. They will try to find any way to take your money. I've done everything that they have asked of me and yet they treat you like you don't matter. Maybe if you just paid them every month and never had an issue you would be fine but as soon as you try to cancel it or have a problem it will turn into a nightmare! If someone from Verizon is reading this and willing to give some integrity to your company and help me please email me at [email protected]. I've tried to go online and find some contact info for the CEO which I have sent an email to and will be calling as well.

No dial tone
I have had no dial tone on my Verizon land line for almost two weeks. I called in a complaint last week and was told they could not fix it until Tuesday, Jan. 26th. I stayed home from work on the 26 and the 27th and 28th and no one has come to fix my phone service. I called on the 26th and was told "oh well, they didn't get to you today". I called again today and they don't even have a tech assigned to my trouble ticket.
In the meantime they are callforwarding my phone calls from my land line to my cell phone and I am having to pay the minutes used. I use this phone for work so it is used quite a bit which is why I chose the Verizon Freedom Plan.
Any suggestions on how I can get phone service to my home. I don't care if it is Verizon and would prefer another supplier.

Phone Warranty
Purchased phone and fancy warranty. Phone failed to dial 911 when dialing 911. Called 911 three times, nothing happened. Went to store to make claim on warranty. Eye candy droid girl Bernice claimed helplessness, tried 911 twice finally got through. Asked for manager, told to come back or call *611 (Customer Disservice number). Came back the next day and talked to Bob the manager. He grabbed the phone called 911 and tried twice finally got through. He bottom line? Worked when he tried, not a problem. Made up a bunch of excuses and tried the usual and customary blame the customer tricks. When contract is over in 11 months Verizon can shove it. Told to dirt bag manager if there was another incident and someone got injured I would name him personally as a defendant in a civil liability case. AND I WILL if it goes down!
Drop Verizon at contract end and never go back. Big rip off.

Liars, one and all
I originally signed up for Alltel mobile broadband. Since that time, Verizon has bought them out in this area. When I first got the service, I was told that even when running on 1X (the lower speed) that I would get, at a minimum of 10 times dialup speed and 40 to 70X dialup speed when on DO. And for a while it was. Then along came verizon. They told me the EXACT same thing. Then the speed starts to drop. I call their customer service, thinking its a tower issue. I was told that verizon could not test their tower because I was running Linux on my HOME COMPUTER. Hmmm, makes no sense to me. THEN I was told that its not 10X its 2X. I am alotta things but I am not deaf, nor am I stupid. And to add to my frustration, though completely unrelated, they have to have the highest turnover rate of any company I have ever seen. I just want to congratulate Verizon on being the most consistently inconsistent company around.
