I used AT&T's prepaid service called GoPhone for a few months last year. I left a balance of $50 or so on the account because I thought I might need the phone in the future, which I do now. Now when I need the phone, I find that without any written notice they have closed my account, kept the money and given the number to another party, even though I have given it to couple of financial institutions.
