My Maytag refrigerator, model # MSD2434GEW is 5 years old. There is a recall on the relay switch that shuts off the compressor. I was not notified of this recall and as a result my house almost burned down. I awoke to the house filled with the smell of burnt plastic. The relay failed and, as a result, it melted the switch and all of the wires to the compressor. Maytag's customer service department leaves a lot to be desired also.
