I purchased a smooth top range in 2005 along with the master service agreement. After 13 months the center burner failed to heat and I placed a service call. I was given a 4 hour window for the techinician arrival. A technician arrived and verified my complaint and stated that the part had to be ordered. I questioned this after all it's pretty obvious on a smooth top when a burner is not working and although I am not a trained service technician I can tell when the burner is not hot.
