My XBox has the RROD fault, this is a known fault by Microsoft. So I logged the call with Microsoft and they confirm the unit is still under warranty and they put this in the call. They then gave me a reference number and told me to log a call with PowerCare. I emailed PowerCare the forms, and told them that Microsoft has confirmed that the unit is still under warranty.
