Bank of America Reviews

Kept my social security direct deposit for 14 days
Bank Of America closed my account 1 day before my social security direct deposit was issued . Made me wait 14 days while they issued a cashier check they refused to cash. Could not get my medicine.Almost evicted from my apt. I could not pay my bills, rent, car payment etc. Cost me hundreds of dollars in late fees. It has been a total nightmare . I hope no one else ever has to go through this.My advice is to keep your money anywhere but there. The stress of this has literally made me ill. I had to cash the check at av ace cash express that charged me one hungred dollars. the late fees on my apt. were 150 dollars It will take me months to get caught up.

Hundreds in overdraft fees
Recently, I was charged around $700 in overdraft fees from my Bank of America Checking account. The problem originally started when i made an accounting error and left my checking account with insufficient funds. I did not realize this, and used my debit card for my normal spending (many small items such as gum, drinks, etc). I used the card around 25 times and was not notified once that there was insuffient funds to cover the amounts. Therefore, i was charged around $30 every transaction. It was only when i checked my online statement that i found this out. I promptly called Bank of America to try to get my money back, however they would not budge. I asked why they would let me keep charging small items on a card when the account did not have enough funds (although i knew the answer was so that they could keep charging fees and making money). I remember reading somewhere that they made around 40% of their banking profits on overdraft fees alone, now I believe it. I have been a member with Bank of America for over 10 years and cannot believe what they are doing is not illegal. Also they raised the rates of 2 of my "fixed rate credit cards" for no reason other then "they did not like my payback habits" (although i was never late)

Shame on you Bank of America.

ONLINE BANKING
I have had BANK OF AMERICA for almost a year now. I have always had enough money to cover all my transactions. Until I get my tax money of 9, 000 dollars & now i start having issues with BANK OF AMERICA. I always keep track of my online banking I have had a transaction pending for about a week. Then they finally go and process the amount & put my account as a negative. So i loss almost 400 on fees 7 so on. I had called BANK OF AMERICA a few times & all of there reps have VERY BAD ATTITUDES!! They have horrible customer service skills! After speaking to a Maria (Supervisor) she was not able to help & also was very rude! She is going to tell me that she can not transfer me to a Manager. She stated she would give a note to her manager that she could not (For security reasons provide a name to me) would contact me on Monday. I was very upset & ended the call. I WILL BE CANCELING MY 2 ACCOUNTS I HAVE WITH THIS HORRIBLE BANK OF AMERICA COMPANY!!!

Scammed out of $150 promotion
I'd had a mortgage with Bank of America for a little over a year when I received an email saying if I opened one of their Advantage checking accounts and paid my mortgage 3 months consecutively, they would deposit $150 cash into my account. Needless to say, I opened the Advantage account, paid my mortgage for 3 months and waited for my money. I emailed customer service 5 times asking where my money was only to hear "the promotion was declined, but call us and we'll explain". No one will answer any of my questions online or explain why it was declined. There was no reason for the decline and I am reading that many other customers have had the same problem. I left Wells Fargo for this type of service. I'm going to a locally owned bank to transfer my checking and savings accounts there. If they can refinance my mortgage for a lower rate, they might get that too.

Unfair Annual Fee Instituted
Bank of America in instituting an annul fee of $39.00 to start in April on my VISA credit card I have with them. I feel this is especially unfair, as I am on SSI and this is my only VISA card. I don't know if this is illegal or not but am going to find out!

Cut my credit live from $200,00 to $200
I had an account with Bank of America for 30 years and built up a credit line of $200, 000 with them. I called to ask about my intrest rate being lowered a half a percent or so. The operator said they would review my account and hung up.
I get a letter telling me my credit line has been reduced to $200!! I can't even get a freaking tank of gas with the card. It's useless. 30 years of credit building and consistent increases based on perfect credit until I owned a 'black card' and some operator wipes it out.
The expiration date ran out and I didn't reactivate the new one. Now they call me constantly to 'survey' me on my experience with their company and beg me for business and I tell them they suck.

Modification
After hiring a lawyer to secure our home modification, after we failed trying to work with BofA on our own, we where able to save our home and avoid our home being sold on the court house steps 3 minutes before the 10am auction time. We did everything BofA asked us to, notorized with a cashiers check for the September payment with our next due in October and sent back the signed agreement by their deadline. We had been making our payments as scheduled, on December 31 we recieve via Fedex a packet with a home modification proposal, I call BofA and ask questions they say there was an error on the first offer we signed, of course we where not notified nor was the lawyer that there was an error, I asked what the error was they said because you cant have more than 2 interest rates, well the proposal that showed up on December 31 had the exact same amount of interest rates as the one we agreed to and signed the main difference we can see is that BofA changed the interest rate at year 8 for 243 payments from 4.375% to 5.000% doing the math this will cost us allot of money for the majority of the loan, not too mention that we have recieved no crediit for the payments we had sent in, and also added on more to the principle than the modification we signed and agreed to. The lawyer we hired is now worthless because they have done nothing to try and resolve this.

Keeps delaying closing
I signed up for a mortgage loan through Bank of America. 1 day before closing Bank of America came back with a minor paperwork issue which delayed the closing by a week. In the meantime, I had to go back to my landlord requesting an extension on my lease, have the utilities turned back on for a week and then pay a penalty to the seller as well. As if that was not enough, 2 days before the rescheduled date for closing - Bank of America called me at 6 in the evening and told me to increase the coverage on the flood insurance (even though the existing coverage exceeded the loan amount). By then, I had already packed my stuff and had the movers coming in the next day. Despite all this Bank of America refused to apologize and suggested that we move the closing date again. Not only that - these guys were downright rude - "instead of arguing with us, you should call the insurance company right away" (as if it is my fault that they waited till 6 pm to call). I am left with no words for this organization. I would rather stab myself in the eye with a needle than go with these guys again for a mortgage loan. Stay away from the

Loan Refinance delay w/no communication
My Home at 12 Egret Ln. Aliso Viejo, CA is currently financed by Bank of America @4.75% APR 20 yr.
I applied for a refinance loan and was offered a 3.8% for a 15 year term in November early.
I did not hear anything from them till January. In between I co-signed a car loan for my nephew in Ohio. I submitted all documentation as to the payment being made by my nephew from his back and also the car being registered in Ohio.
Now when I call them they say they cannot honor the offered refinance. I payed all the processing fees etc to the loan officer after I was approved in November. Please tell me what to do and how can i resolve this.
Than you.

Misrepresentatons
If you are looking for a business bank, stay AWAY from Bank of America. There is no such thing as free banking, after 2 years they started charging me for the account, $17.00 a month, not a whole lot of money, but it's the principle of keeping your word that counts. I had a business line of credit, paid religiously on time and payments were always higher than minimum due, 2 years ago they decided to lower my credit limit in the middle of a business transaction, then 6 months later they closed the account for no reason.

I paid the line of credit off and closed the account. I should have stayed at Bank Atlantic and never switched banks. I was talked into it because my employer offered free checking with Bank of America if we had direct deposit, that account I closed too. All my accounts are now at Bank Atlantic, they keep their promises. I curse the day I left Bank Atlantic and switched to Bank of America.
