Sports Pack Programming is a Fraud
Been a subscriber to DTV's Sports Pack for over 10 years. I also subscribe to the MLB package. This year it seems that the pre-game shows are blacked out on the Fox and Regional sports channels. I called DTV customer service but can't get a straight answer (another example of poorly trained CSR's). I asked to speak with a supervisor but the agent said I'd have to wait on the line for at least an hour. Makes me wonder what I'm paying an extra $12.99 for what seems like a worthless Sports Pack. Appears to be a scam. Maybe another class action suit against DirecTV is in order.

false liability
My ex husband had direct in his name only as we were divorced. After the sale of the home I tried to turn in the receivers and they would not accept them saying they had to come from him. Now they say I am liable and was on the account for $489.57. How can I be on the account when trying to turn in the receivers they would not accept stating the account was in his name, we were divorced and I could just be trying to pull a fast one on him.
This company is full of it!

Added Fees
Sold my house and was moving across town. I called Direct TV two months before the move to cancel my account. I asked for three receiver boxes so I can send their equipment back. I only received one and called for more boxes. When I called, I was specifically told "you have older type receivers and you can just recycle them, we don't need them". So, I got rid of them and moved into my new home. Four months later, I receive a bill from Direct TV for $148 because I didn't return the receivers. I called their abysmal customer service (in India) to complain but to no avail. Will never use them again. However, I thank Direct TV because I don't have any satellite or cable service and only use the internet and Netflix to get my shows. I couldn't be happier.

rebate
I am writing after several failed attempts to obtain rebates for my fathers account. I am a customer of direct tv and I recommended the company to my father for satellite services in January, 2011. There were to be several rebates to be applied to his accounts, making his monthly bill more affordable. My father can not read, therefore I do my best to take care of his financial situations. When we were calling direct tv to obtain services for his home, it was never mentioned that the rebate had to be submitted with in 90 days. All we were told was that he could submit it prior to installation, or afterwards but it would take 6-8 weeks for his rebate to be applied to his account. I was misinformed completely when it came to submitting his rebates. I called direct tv yesterday, Wednesday, April 27, 2011. I was on the phone for 4 hours yesterday due to being disconnected from them 7 times. Noone would help me and a rude comment was made by one of their supervisors when I told them that my father could not read, this is why I was his point of contact for his account. I suffered emotional distress because of their lack of concern and pointless customer service.
Please help me with this matter.

Over Charges
We finally disconneted with Direct TV. We only had two more months on our contract. They charged us $40.00 early disconnection fee. I got a FINAL BILL. I paid it and then I got a bill for $1.88, late charges, I paid the bill within a week. I was told that my March bill was late. Not it was paid on time. FINAL BILL is all charges are on the bill. Oh may I add that was one reason we disconnect was that they would put a increase on your bill anytime they wanted too. SO LONG SUCKER. I will never have Direct TV again...EVER. aka Nanny

Non removal of Dish
My Daughter was living at my house. She had Direct TV while living there, but then moved to to another state. She called Direct TV to move her service, which they did. But they would not remove the satellite dish from my house. They told my Daughter that she needed to remove it. It this right? Has anyone else had this problem?

Misleading Rebate Term on sign-up
Left Dish Network after many years use at our summer cottage due to service issues and signed up in March, 2011 for Direct TV; great rebate offer and initial installation service. Also, referred you neighbor. Of course we had already alled for intallation prior to telling them about the referral, so no rewards. That as not an issue fo us. Told to call rebate line to activate before installation after account # given to us. Did that - Direct TV claims we didn't. Then went on-line to claim rebate. Website not functioning properly for that function for 3 weeks until today. Finally got to correct page to sign-up for rebate (already received first full bill) and rebate states $31 rebate for 12 months, not the 2 years we were led to believe at time we signed up for service which is a mandatory 24-month contract. This is a cottage...we do not want to spend $100 a month for TV for limited days usage. I called to complain. First put on hold waiting for a supervisor, then disconnected. Called back and got a supervisor, Max, who did not listen and talked over me continuously. His only comments were that we should've looked at the ads they send in mail to customers...we weren't customers until after locked in, and we should check-out website for terms...no internet access at cottage to see their website prior to signing up. We got number from yellow pages.
If we sign the agreement for the rebate, we are agreeing to only 12 months. If we don't, we are stuck with $100 a month bill before we really start using it.
We are totally stuck with this mess.

Unauthorized service, terrible support
Direct TV just informed me I have a 1 year contract w/them even though my contract was up years ago. Their reasoning: our bedroom receiver (which we owned) broke & I got one that someone was no longer using (so also owned) & had them switch the signal to the working receiver that I hooked up to the TV. So NO new services, NO new equipment from them but I now have a contract??!! Customer "service's" solution is for me to send a letter & they will reply within 3 weeks of receiving letter. If this is the kind of service you are looking for Direct TV is the company for you. BTW the rep who switched the signal for me never mentioned a contract or I would have just cancelled the service in the bedroom as we do not use it much, just nice to have on occasion. I have been with Direct TV for 10 years and this is the treatment I get...on hold for 15 minutes and then told that they can't do anything and cannot look into anything I just need to submit a letter and wait...and of course keep paying them in the mean time whether I want to or not. Ironic thing is I probably would have stayed with them at least the year or more anyway under normal circumstances as I am used to their channels and menus etc. I am making sure everyone I know hears about their terrible customer service and everyone I don't know that I can reach too.

Refused to help release of contract
My Husband and I moved from another state where we were faithful customers of Direct Tv.We had the company to put a hold on our service while we relocated here to Texas. When we found th place we are living in now, we were informed that we could not have Direct Tv because it required us to have a satalite and we live in townhomes that do have their own rules we have to abide by.When I informed Direct Tv of this and requested they release me of the contract because it was something beyond my control, they told me "it is not their problem, I should look into reporting the place I live at because they do not have the right to tell me I cannot have a satalite.service, then they suggested that I put the satalite dish in a bucket, on my patio, to recieve the service from them. How getto can they get! I requested boxes from them to return their merchandise to them and I am yet to get the return shippment boxes.I am on disability and live on my ssi, I checked my bank account today and discover Direct Tv hit my account for 221.00.No letter, no warning, no expliamation, they just take my money, just like it is theirs! I am beyond discusted because medications I HAVE to have, I cannot even get because of the selfishness and the lack of caring customer service Direct Tv provides.Who knows, when my lease is up here, they could have have a second chance with me if they would have shown a little compassion and acted like they cared, Now, I would not allow my dogs to waste their pea on them. They are not worth it!

RipOff
Thought I was going to be moving, called DirectTV to order their services. Now I am not moving to that ;pcation, so I called to cancel! Their customer service SUCKS!! They will not cancel the order, even after I told them I don't need their service, as I have NO HOME to use DirectTV, they don't seem to understand plain simple enblish, and by the way, they have already deducted their "handling fee" on my debit card, and won't refund that either!! Very dishonest company!! Run don't walk away from these crooks!! Next move I make is to my states Attorney General, (conversion is illegal, and that is what DirectTV has done)!!
