Nothing, but a waste of time
We moved from florida in FEb. 06 and contacted Dish network to disconnect the service. We paid the Feb. bill. They told us fine, they would disconnect us and for us to contact them when we got to our new destination. I had no reason to do so, because I wasnt going to use them again. On Dec. 2006 I received a last notice from them for service through Jan. 2007 and demanding that I pay the amount they said was due. I e-mailed them, wrote to them and never heard back. Now I am getting letters from CBE Group Inc a collection agency. I called them and told them there was nothing to collect, and they said, well Dish Network has to tell us that you dont owe anything. I said well just send me another notice and I will charge you with violations of the Fair Debt Collection Act. She told me to have a nice day. I should not have to put up with this garbage. Now I have to contact Dish Network again and waste my time with this. Thanks for letting me vent.

Billing/Service
I purchased Dish Network on an advertised special 12/24/09. What a nightmare..THe system does not work properly and never has. The advertised special did not include what it said, to get it right took multiple ad ons, I am being billed for service fees and the technicians claim the inbstallation is incorrect and I should not be billed. I was suposed to get a credit every month for one year and they keep telling me they credit the account but since they force you to have direct billing to a credit card they just charge what ever they want to the card and it is impossible to get it adjusted. They just tell me if I am unhappy to pay $300+ dollars to get out of the contract early. I actually doubt that even doing this would shut off their ability to charge my account what ever they want for the rest of my life. Whenever I start pusing for satisfaction on the phone they just hang up. I have trid to access my account on line for months and they tell me they have a computer glich and uit is not possible and the are working on it. That has been their story for months. VERY DISSATISFIED cannot get reception at the times we have available to use it. A RIP OFF ... DO NOT BUY DISH NETWORK ...I REPEAT DO NOT BUY DISH NETWORK...YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO.

They totally misrepresented their service
I am very disappointed with this. This is not what I was promised or agreed too. I was to receive 2 receivers at no charge. Free DVR. I was never told of any protection plan. I was never told of DVR service fee. Now I am being charged for this. I do not think you represented service as it is billed. I think you have totally misrepresented this service.

Fraudulant statements prior to sale
I attempted to obtain service with DISH TV on three (3) different days. The last conversation I had was with a salesman that promised he would "set straight" all of the information I had previously been given. I explained to him...we wanted FREE HD FOR LIFE and we needed DVRs for two (2) separate rooms. Since I share the home with family, I explained that we wanted totally separate capabilities on each DVR - so that both rooms could watch a program independently as well as record two (2) programs independently. This would mean that the Dual DVR would need to have the capabilities to transmit two (2) separate programs and record (2) entirely different programs. 1 - Dual DVR = 4 entirely different and separate TV programs. He was agreeing that it was absolutely possible and that my brother would have no problem sharing this Dual DVR. There would be no arguements and no conflict as what he would be watching and recording would be absolutely independent of what I was watching and recording. NOW...that the contract is signed and the installation is complete, we find that this is not true. If I am watching a program and recording another program...all the people in the other room can do is to watch something that has already been recorded. I have called and complained and have been told that I had signed the contract agreeing that everything was to my satisfaction. If I want to have total independency, I must pay (up front) $200.00 for another receiver, $15.00 additional installation charge and $10.00 a month for the additional DVR rental. The monthly service coverage does not apply in this situation. So, now we are a prisioner of DISH TV for the next 24 months. God Bless Us All. I don't know if we can survive this or not. Obviously, DISH TV has no intention of assuming any responsibiulity for the false advertisement and/or fraudulant statements made by the salesman. I am so sorry that we left DIRECT TV - just for the free HD TV FOR LIFE OFFER. BEWARE OF ANY SALES THAT DISH NETWORK IS ADVERTISING...it is not what it seems.

They say that the consumer is important to them, but , judging by the evidence, important only as a source of money
I had to fight to get autopay on the date I wanted instead of the date I began service. Dishnetwork made what should have been a very simple transaction very difficult. I would not give up the date that was sensible and convenient for me because it did not seamlessly fit into their inflexible system. Once again, they turned what should have been a quick and painless transaction in customer service into difficulty for the consumer.
I received a new bank card number and called dish to inform them of the new number. I talked to billing and was told that the system would not accept my new number unless I was making a payment. I talked to an employee (Alyssa, who tried to help) and then to her supevisor, Kim, who did not. She said that "I"m sorry you feel that way" when I told her the system was inflexible and should be changed. When I told her that I wanted to make a complaint, I was told I would have to write into an address she could provide; she could only note my complaint in my account file.
I called them as a courtesy to THEM. Dish network, once again, makes it difficult for the consumer. They say that the consumer is important to them, but, judging by the evidence, important only as a source of money.

Their equipment didn't work half of the time
We got new equiptment last year and had to pay $200-300, the equiptment didnt work half of the time and we call all the time, and then found out that the equipt was test equipt, and out dated after 3 months and we were to pay another $200-300 for the newest equiptment that once again doesnt work all the time. They dont offer refunds or credits in this short amount of time. But if your late on a bill you will be charged interest, Why am I not getting a credit on Faulty equiptment? Why does the cusomer suffer? Arent this companies suppose to offer cusomer satisfaction?

Customer service nightmare
I signed up for Dish Network a month ago. I was told when signing up that I would receive HBO and Showtime free for 3 months if I signed up for auto-pay, where they directly debit my credit card when my bill is due. My first statement came and I was being charged for HBO and Showtime. I called to get the problem fixed and the customer service representative removed HBO and Showtime from my programming.
The young lady must have misunderstood me when I said I didn't want to get charged for it. My channels were no longer included in my programming. I had to call back and and explain that I still wanted the premium channels but didn't want to be charged for it(I deserved 3 months free for signing up for auto-pay). Since they had removed the promotion(by accident) they told me that they couldn't just add it back on. Now it has been 2 weeks since I first noticed the erroneous charge and I still have no resolution to the problem. I have called Dish several times talking to about 6-7 different people and none of them will just credit my account they keep giving me the run around. Tomorrow the first auto pay is being debited including the cost of HBO and Showtime. Don't get Dish Network, their customer service standard operating procedures do not give authority to the first person you talk with to resolve your problem. The last person I talked to said I would receive a call from their "promotions" department within 72 hours, which happens to be after they debit my account!

bad receiver
Upgraded to HD Dish Receiver last week. The receiver has been resetting constantly for three days, saying that it has lost signal. Error message 015- Dish recommended unplugging for 15 seconds, plugging back in and letting it reset itself. After doing this it goes through the same routine again. Finally, they admit that we have a faulty unit that will need to be replaced (five day shipping which I'm sure will take longer since it's a three day week-end holiday).
Really not happy that they can come out the next day to upgrade your service but can't come out to swap equipment when it's their equipment failure. Will I get a credit for no service? Probably not. Will the replacement work? Probably not, since I've now read many others with the same problem.
Not good customer service, Dish Network!

RIP OFF!
I was told that I would receive local Philadelphia channels, I didn't get them, picture quality was awful, Dish technicians illegally opened the local cable company's box of wires on the side of my apartment, and after just 2 days of service I decided to cancel and they decided to charge me $420 + more. They said the fee for early cancellation would be $240, $10 x 24 months. I argued for 5 hours with them via phone but finally I gave in and said I'll pay the $240. Then they told me it was $17.50 per month x 24 months for a total of $420 plus $10 to ship back their receiver, then they said it was $15 to send back, plus the cost of two days I had the service. I asked if the $17.50 would be on a monthly bill, I was told yes. Then I was told $420 will be charged to my credit card in one sum. So I am waiting for them to send me a box with a shipping label to send back some of their equipment. I also had to go outside to the dish they put in the ground and unscrew a piece off and mail that to them. They don't remove the dish, it's just waste they leave stuck in the ground. What does that tell you about their disposable product? So for two days of DISH service, I owe them at least $435, I had to do work and unscrew part of the dish to send back, make a trip to the post office and was lied to about programming and was extremely frustrated for the past two days and will soon loose my entire savings. I'm an unemployed guy, back in college, caring for elderly parents up against a company with 14 million subscribers and they refused to offer me any sort of break. I am really upset and hope that others don't get caught in their evil web.
