I can't get no satisfaction
I recently withdrew $15,000 from MY saving account, and was asked everything except the color of my underwear, I was not applying for food stamps, it is MY money, when I deposited over $50,000 nobody said a thing.
I was asked my current occupation, I replied I am retired. Then I was asked what was my occupation before I retired. After this I was asked what was my job title! I think I will withdraw every single penny I have from this pitiful place.

I can't get no satisfaction
I went to withdraw $15,000 from MY savings account. I was asked my current occupation, which I replied to as being retired. I was then asked my last occupation before I retired, and then what was my job title. Funny when I deposited over $60,000 no one asked for nothing, and surely gobbled it up.
Maybe I will close the account in fear of having a bank holiday, that is when you go to the bank and it is closed and your money is gone. I am totally disgusted!!!!!!

Bad Faith, Fraud & Incompetence
An 18-year member of NFCU with an unblemished financial record, I applied for a home refinance. Over a period of six months, they kept "losing" my documentation, kept raising the bar for yet more documentation, clearly playing a game of Gotcha! -- with the aim of refusing the loan so as to retain higher interest income on existing loans. NFCU isn't the veterans-friendly bank it used to be. Something has changed. They now comport themselves like some fly-by-night scammer.
I just finalized a refinance with another credit union, which welcomed my business and has treated me with respect and professionalism. So, Navy Federal has lost $180,000 of my business. I hope others follow suit. Nothing like a deteriorating bottom line to grab a CEO's attention.

Returned check fee non-reimbursement
I try my best to keep track of my expences and anfortunatley I forgot that an auto payment from Geico was supposed to go thrugh on the 28 of June. After paying all the bills for the month there was not enough left to cover the Geico payment of $53 which I was not aware of, so I was charged $29 returned check fee. So I called with hopes that NF would be kind and take care of that fee since I don't usually have returned checks. Well, the guy I spoke with said that I only get one courtesy in-a-lifetime but then looked at the records and was actually two times. He was being extremely hard a$$ about it as if he was sending me a check out of his pocket. So I asked to speak to a supervisor hoping that it would have more power and instead the lady I spoke to sounded like a robot. It felt like I was talking to a machine, every time I tried to talk to her she would talk as if she was reading a screen.
My point is that ever since those two ''courtesy'' payments that NFCU had made I probably made 1000's of deposits, 1000's of transactions and $1000's in interest loans to NFCU. Yes it's my fault for not being on top of the bills but common who the heck is gonna remember everything that goes through my bank, after all I only have a 7 month old daughter and a 3 yr old boy with Angelmans Syndrome ( sarcasm). Nothing better else to do. I am very mad about it.

Won't Grant Loans
Warning to those who want to join Navy Federal Credit Union!!! If you've had any dealings with them that resulted in something owed to them (e.g. you had to file bankruptcy and their credit card or loan was included) you won't get a loan from them. Oh sure, you can become a member and deposit your money though. This way, they can USE your money while not giving you much of anything in return. Pretty much, a worthless membership. Their 'approval' committee sure doesn't give you consideration. Don't be duped, DON'T join!!! There are MANY other credit union options out there!

CKECK CARD
On my understandig, once you received the new card, you have to call to activate it. ..AM I RIGHT?
NCFU dactivated all my checks cards, regardeless I havent received the new cards yet. I AM SO FRUSTRATED THAT I HAD ALREADY PUT A STOP TO MY WORK DIRECT DEPOSIT CHECKS and I DECIDED TO CLOSE ALL MY ACCOUNTS WITH THAT INSTITUTION..
Acouple weeks ago, I went to the bank and changed my single last name to my new married to all my accounts. To my disbelieved NFCU had actually deactivated all my cards without being notify. I found out 2 weeks later, whent I went to do my nails and my personal check card (which expired 2014) didnt get throught, it was a mistake I thought (there is enought money on my account plus direct deposit from work )I told her to try again... and it WAS DECLINED... IT WAS EMBARRASING... my nails still wet to make phone call so instead I decided to use my join account card...WICH WAS DECLINED TOO. IT WAS FRUSTRATED, I called the bank and a female representative verify my information and new exactly were I was /according with the rejected transaction. She TOLD ME THAT MY CARDS WERE DEACTIVATED SINCE I CHANGED MY LAST NAME. I told her << YOU CAN NOT DO THAT, I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE NEW CARDS YET... YOU NEED TO HELP ME>> her answer was <<WAIT UNTIL THE NEW CARD ARRIVE>> I answered << YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, I HAVE TO PAY FOR SERVICE DONE, NOW>> Her answer was <<PAID CASH>>. I didnt want to deal with her anymore, SHE WAS A STURBBON PERSON THAT IGNORED MY SITUATION. I told her that I want to speak with her manager, she put me on hold and then got desconected.

Unloyal
I got a negative balance in my account because i got scammed, but if the sorry employee (female) who work at the branch off of western blvd beside redlobster and first citizen bank would have done her job correctly i wouldnt be in a negative. I sell avon and thats how the entire thing started. Anyways, the scammer sent me two more checks just because he/she thought i didnt know it was a fake but i received the fake checks through fedex and i took those checks bakc up to the same branch to two differnet women who automatically noticed that the checks were fake and they apologized for the other ladys mistake im like really though its not yall fault but if she had done her job the right way she would have noticed the checks were fake i didnt know it but she should have she works at the bank the other ladys said she should have noticed by touch, feel, and site that the checks were fake and i feel as though i shouldnt be held accountable for their mistakes and i hope i can get a law suit on that branch for their mistake

Lose of Electronic Banking
Navy Federal Credit Union disable my Electronic Banking, Web access to account information, access to ATM and Debit or Credit Card transitions. This was done because two of my loans with them that were on time, got caught up in my Bankruptcy with HFC and they never informed me that this is what would happen. This was after I talked to them about it before the Bankruptcy went through and before we talked to the Trustee. They just cut off access with no word or warning that would all me time to setup another bank account with another banking institution. They have left me with 1950's banking where I have to go into a Branch to get money from my account or find out what my balance is and what is going on with my accounts. I do not understand why in the Electronic age that a Credit Union that services Military and Retirees would cut off their Electronic banking access for a court discussion that is beyond the control the account holder, the least they could have done is giving so type of warning about this policy besides just cutting off access without any warning.

Bad Faith, Incompetence & Fraud
I have been a member of the NFCU for 16 years. When I applied for a mortgage for my new home in 2002, and when I refinanced in 2003, they were efficient, customer-friendly and offered the best rates and terms. It was a pleasure working with them. When I applied for another refinance in June 2010, my experience was exactly the opposite, thus, echoing other complaints here.
I have an unblemished record as a mortgage, banking and credit card customer with NFCU as well as with other banks I do business with. My credit scores hover around 820-830. I have zero consumer debt. I have a high verifiable net worth as an investor/businessman. My equity in my house is two-thirds. Banks love to do business with me. NFCU, however, is a different story.
I first became concerned over my loan application when NFCU's loan officer kept losing the reams of documentation I sent in both electronically and by mail -- not once, not twice, but three, four and five times. Moreover, it took her on average two weeks to reply to anything I sent in. I became so exasperated that I lodged a formal complaint to NFCU's Special Committee which is supposed to act as ombudsman for NFCU customers. I suspected something was amiss with this committee when I couldn't find any contact info on it. Hours of cybersleuthing got me the email address of a Navy Dept. official who is on the board, whom I contacted. After a month, I received a canned response from the board obviously written by the same incompetent loan officer I'd been dealing with, instructing me to send in the documents she'd been losing. Exercise in total frustration.
Nonetheless, I continued to assiduously fulfill each request for information. But every time I submitted information, back came additional demands which over time became increasingly absurd. As I reached the sixth month of this charade, it became very clear to me that NFCU had no intention of approving my application to refinance at a full percentage point lower rate. The game they were playing was clear: henpeck the client to the point he gives up. My requests to speak to a supervisor were ignored. I finally issued them an ultimatum: they had more than adequate data proving my creditworthiness. Make a decision, I told them. Well, I received no response for two weeks. I had to goose them repeatedly for a reply. They sent me a form rejecting my loan application, checking every box available for the rejection. My impression was that they had great glee in throwing the book at me. And I am out of pocket for $850 in fees.
NFCU isn't the veterans-friendly bank it used to be. Something has changed. They now comport themselves like some fly-by-night scammer. I plan on removing my $200, 000 in accounts from NFCU and to cease doing business with them. Moreover, I'm writing their management to inform them that I am reporting their bad faith practices to the National Credit Union Administration, FTC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, BBB and the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Moreover, I am writing to the respective oversight committees of Congress requesting that they investigate the lending practices of NFCU and other banks who are committed to lending, but who act in bad faith, a form of fraud. I followed this same route with another bank several years ago and got results.
I urge other NFCU members to follow suit. Make your voices heard. Also lodge your complaints in writing. A good place to start is: http://www.mortgagesfinancingandcredit.org/mortgages/complaints-regulatory/ncua6.htm.
