Delivery Returned after one try
I have grown tired of UPS' idea of delivery service. I live in an old appartment building and the directory listing is not kept up to date. The delivery person went through the directory and decided this was the wrong address (which was confirmed more than three times). Instead of the usual voicemail of where to pick it up (as Fedex or Canada Post would do) they decided to send my package back to the Seller. I made contact with UPS and they portrayed a very "too bad so sad" attitude. My package is now in a warehouse and they are going to call back to let me know if they will in fact send it to a pickup location. How hard is it to send a package to a pickup station? I am irritated with UPS and their very shady business practices. If you have a choice between UPS and anything else go with anythying else.

Avoid doing business with them
I shipped an envelope to the ups store on route 1 dadeland - Miami Fl to my Student son. It arrived April 1 and my son was out of town. When he returned he went a picked it up the Store clerk charged him $80.00 to receive it. The envelope tracking shows from ups store #0837 were it should have been returned if the store didn't want to hold on to it. I know we are in a recession But be very careful of UPS. I have the tracking receipt and it does show a charge for holding an envelope at a Ups store. I want my money back for the outrageous charge.

UPS center at Kristi Cy, Sacramento says we have two different scaning, logical and physical and tracking record does not mean anything. Your shippemnt could still be in original shiping location while record shows it has arrive at Sacramento location. This location also says that UPS may lost this shipment and you can not do anything about it.

Lost & Damaged Package
We issued a UPS call-tag for a new piece of medical equipment at a customers site in TX. UPS did pick-up the package. We received a call from our customer asking if we ever got it back and we said no. We then called UPS and filed a lost package claim. Somehow the package ended up in UT and was rerouted to our location in NY. When we received the unit back it was not in it's original custom box but in a smaller box with no packing. The new unit was now badly damaged and unrepairable. We went through the process and filed a damage claim. They wanted to just try resolving it over the phone by sending pictures but we insisted a rep come to our location. The rep acted very arogant but did admit that they did screw up. Long story short, they denied our claim! This was a $4, 000 piece of equipment and now we are out the costs and had to replace the unit for our customer. We also have a FedEx service and have had no troubles. We will be switching all of our services to FedEx. This company is terrible! The year they went public is when they started going down hill. They only seem to care about pleasing their shareholders and not their customers! That is a fact!

Formal UPS Complain

Here is a copy odf th e complain that I´m just making public. The UPS response I´m also going to make it public to see if it was really no big deal.

On 4/12/2011 I imported four electric shades from china using the United Parcel Service had to pay 140
USD for the worst transportation service that I could possibly hire.

this is the UPS information :

Account No. 7MX03FYWE8
ID number GD10023696
guide NUMBER 1985V5HXGZP
SERIE MEXCODI
folio 30945
UPS Reference : 0053835108
1Z guia aerea : 1Z1985V50449807587
UPS office : Eugenia 189 Col Narvarte

I received the worst possible service from UPS since the shades arrived several days late at the Mexican UPS office. Since there was no transport available when I called, they ask to pick the shades by myself at the UPS office.
Can you believe that ! I paid for a transportation service and I have to picked them by myself since there was no transportation available according to them.

When I arrived to the UPS office they say that they already send the shades to the destiny address although I explicit ask them to wait for me.
So, I had to return back to the office again and wait for its arrival.

When I finally received the shades both sides of the UPS package was totally broken and the aluminum tubes were totally damaged and coming out of the UPS package. There was not a single protection at any end of the packed.

When I ask them what kind of service did I hire, they minimized the problem and they said that I was no big deal. No big deal ? When I show them that all of the four tubes were bended ?
When I arrived home and I open the package I also notice that the product was incomplete and one plastic strip was missing.

The pictures that I'm sending shows an excess of abuse and lack of care from UPS.

When I ask for the manager name to report the incident, they didn't want to give his/her name. And they told me that they were going to pick up the shades with no justification at all. When I sold them that I had to talk with the manager to find out what was going to be the compensation process nobody from UPS gave any information although I asked several times for it. I know that the manager whoever it was had precise instructions to pick the damage tubes without giving any explanation about the return process. They tried several times to pick the damage products at my house( three times) and at the office (two times )

I didn't allow them to picked them up without a clear explantion of the process that it was going to pass. I thought they were just trying to hide all evidence of bad service because they didn't want to give me any repair or exchange order.

I had no other option to file a complain with the consumer authorities in Mexico City at the Profeco.

The audience supposed to be held the 20 of May at 10 AM.

Nobody from UPS showed up so I'm asking for an international respose because I'm not going to leave things as they are.

UPS makes my blood boil!
I ORDERED 2 PAIRS OF SHOES FROM ALDO FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF WHICH UPS WAS SUPPOSED TO DELIVER. LONG BEHOLD, THEY GO AND DELIVER IT SOMEWHERE ELSE AND NOW THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION WITH NO SHOES IN SIGHT. I HAVE A WEDDING TO GO TO TOMORROW AND HAVE NO SHOES TO WEAR. It REALLY shouldn't be that hard. Now they are looking to refund me, but those shoes don't even exist in their inventory any longer! WHY ARE THEY SUCH IDIOTS? They need to hire more competent and literate people. UPS: FIND MY SHOES DANGIT!

Delivery to neighbor policy?
The European policy, called UPS Terms and Conditions of Carriage, REV. 01/11, states that "UPS may deliver a shipment to ... neighbours of the receiver".

I have three questions about this.

Is this a recent revision or a long time policy? I've had several packages shipped to me with UPS before and they never been left with a neighbor if I wasn't home. The process has always been three delivery attempts, then the package is left at the distribution center for me to pick up. So is this a new policy? Or how do they decide between three attempts, or delivery to a neighbor? Can it be that they attempted to delivery my package to my neighbors on previous deliveries to me too, but that my neighbors also happened to be away on previous deliveries the same times I was away? So this was the first time one of my neighbors was home, and I wasn't home, when they attempted delivery?

Secondly, UPS only gave me the first name and the first letter of the last name of the person that received the package. Does UPS have any obligations beyond this to help me receive my package? For example give me the full name of the receiver, tell me the apartment number and adress of the receiver, or contact the receiver and ask them to give me the package if they don't give me the package, or refund me if the receiver has opened the package or stolen parts of the delivery?

Lastly, are there any delivery options that rule out neighbor delivery? The only option I've identified is Adult Signature Required combined with sender instructions to not leave your shipment with a neighbor[source]. Are there any other options?

I'm sad to say that I lost my UPS Standard® package to a neighbor, including possible sensitive information on the receipt such as credit card number or passwords. I filed a lost package claim with UPS, with the sender and with the payment service. In all cases the response is that they can't do anything since the UPS Terms and Conditions allow delivery to a neighbor. To me this means that I from now on have to get written confirmation from the sender beforehand that they will instruct UPS to not leave my package with a neighbor. Before I place the order in the online order form. Which means additional work.

Thank you for keeping your replies exceedingly parsimonious and to the point and without any fluff. Please cite sources for all stated facts, i.e. rules, regulations, code, policy or terms or conditions or other sources. Please keep the discussion to the European UPS policy only since their US terms and conditions is a different document.

PLEASE NO "UPS SUCKS" REPLIES THAT DOESN'T REALLY ADD ANYTHING! PLEASE PRETEND WE ARE IN A FORMAL SETTING!

Fraud Identity Theft
We recently sent a package to our accountant containing important tax records through UPS . They unilaterally changed the address from a business to a vacant apartment. They were lax in their efforts to try to recover the package. Now they tell us they can only reimburse us for the COST OF THE INK to reproduce those documents. They will not even refund the cost to send the package!!

You may want to warn your audience NOT to use UPS for important documents. I was told that they regularly and often change the delivery addresses without contacting the sender or receiving party. Incidentally, both our phone numbers were on this package.

There may also be fraud involved here. When the receiver sees that documents are being sent to accounting firms, this is an opportunity for identity theft by purposely sending packages to vacant apartments/businesses where they can be intercepted.

Unreliable Sevice
For the third time, I have gotten "exceptional" service from UPS. A couple of years ago I paid extra for 2nd day delivery and the package came all the way to their distribution center, 10 miles from my home, but on the day it was to be delivered, I checked the tracking, and it had experienced an "exception." I called and they said that weather would not allow the package to be delivered when promised. I was actually told that my package was at the delivery center near my house on the day before it was to be delivered, but it was behind the center in a trailer and that it was snowing too hard for anyone to walk out and get the packages from the trailer and bring them into the delivery center. And it wasn't snowing at all, hadn't snowed for over 12 hours. There was less than 3 inches of snow on the ground from a previous snow. Then a couple of months ago, I was expecting delivery of a package and it also experienced an "exception." This time I was told that the train it was on had derailed. I thought, "Huh, that's weird." The next day at the elementary school that I work at I mentioned this and two other employees said they had had UPS tell them the same thing, one the month before and the other about four months before. That's a lot of train derailments! Now today I check the tracking for a package coming from the East Coast to my home in Oregon. It was travelling at UPS's usual breakneck speed. Took about five days to get from Penn. to Oregon. Last night tracking showed that it had finally arrived in Oregon but wasn't going to be delivered until Monday. Then this morning tracking says that my package might not make it on schedule because of "adverse weather conditions." It was cloudy, 62 degrees with no precipation of any sort. I called and asked what they heck was going on and was told first that the package was being held up due to weather in Penn. But tracking showed that it had left that state five days ago! He said, "No, it's still in Penn." I said tracking had shown it arriving in OR the night before. Then he changed and said that actually it was in North Dakota and was held up because of flooding on the tracks! It's like they have a list of made up excuses on the wall of their cubicules and just go down the list. UPS is a joke.

Misdelivered package
I ordered a package and paid for UPS shipping and I mistakenly assumed UPS could deliver a package to the address listed on the package - MY address. With what Im sure amounts to millions of dollars spent on tracking packages, tracking delivery trucks, and tracking the drivers that deliver them, including global positioning satellites, scanners, etc. the one thing UPS neglected to do was spend money on training drivers to read the house numbers. My package, which contained irreplaceable and valuable family heirlooms was delivered to my next door neighbor's house. That might not sound as scary as it is, but in this day and age, many people do not even know their neighbor's names unless their mail is mistakenly delivered to their house, and I am one of them. Fortunately, she is a 92 year old woman who was born during the Age of Honesty when you did not keep things that did not belong to you, so she ambled over and delivered it herself. Ironically, and perhaps more to the point, the numbers to my house are painted in BIG WHITE numbers that can be seen from the street; whereas, my neighbor's house number is in black cursive and can barely be read from her porch, let alone the street. WORD TO THE WISE: when given a choice, pay extra for the confidence that you will receive the merchandise you paid for! PS: Please do not post replies that recommend insurance: I do not want to be financially compensated for a lost package with precious contents – I WANT what I ordered delivered, and if it is not too much to ask, delivered accurately.
