Great except when you need it
I got a Walmart Money Card so that I could replace my previous prepaid debit card. It does have the lowest fees I've been able to find because I use the direct deposit from my work to avoid check cashing fees. I've only got a small monthly fee to pay and never have to worry about overdrafts.
The problem is that it's nearly impossible to get a check cashed or deposited into the thing. Unless it is a payroll check or a tax check they refuse to put the money in my account. I don't even have the option to wait until the funds clear to use the money. They simply won't deposit anything out of the norm, such as personal checks or even the financial aid check from my university. That's what has me so angry today. Not only does the check have the state university name on it, it has a prominent bank as the backing institution. It's practically as good as a tax check.
Now because it is the weekend before Martin Luther King Jr day, I cannot put any money on my account without forking over $30 to a check cashing company. None of the local grocery stores will touch it, no regular banks are open today or tomorrow because of the holiday. It's annoying to know that right now people are able to deposit cash onto their cards or put their paychecks on them, but Walmart won't touch this. I'm a student. How is this NOT able to fall under the payroll category? How the heck to they expect students to cash their checks?

Walmart Money Card Madness
I maybe the only one, but I think I had the ultimate experience with Walmart Money card. I Placed money on my card so that I could do a transaction over the phone. It was declined. I called, what I have named the worse call center in the nation. This guy answered the phone with total broken english. To make a long story short, I requested to speak with a supervisor. after approx 2 sec (I promise this happended). The same guy came bk on the line announcing himself as the supervisor but with a different name. I told him that he was the same person and he said that he was not. (I don't have enough rm on this pg to tell U what I said to him. I then hung up and called bk. I got another not so informed supervisor. I never got my issue resolved. Can someone tell me who regulates walmart money card so that I can file an official complaint??? So much more happened but I had to stop somewhere (lol)

Refused transactions
Beware when buying a walmart prepaid visa for online purchases. If its not a purchase that can be made by a child they (GE moneybank) will deny your transaction. I bought my walmart money to buy my medicine overseas because like many Americans I have no health insurance. The medicine that I need is perfectly legal and I used to get with my insurance. At first my walmart card worked fine but not any more. It gets refused on every overseas pharmacy that I try to use it on. Now I use another Visa and it works just fine. When I bought my walmart money card I didn't realize that I was getting a prepaid Chucky Cheese gift card.

Walmart Money Card is a scam, loosing money, activation
I'd like to worn you about the Walmart Money Card SCAM!
I decided to put money on to pay my bills, including electricity, phone, cell phone, water bill, and rest of my utility bills. I go to my local FEDERAL WAY Walmart and bought a card.
I came home to try to activate it online and it wouldn't let me. So I then CALL them to ask and they said that my information doesn't match. I've had there card before with no problems. they say my information may not match and dont activate it. they said to allow 4-6 weeks for the check to come with the amount loaded. I paid $3 for the card, and the charged me $3.00 to send out check. I am SO PISSED and will never use WalMart Money Cards again.
I know im not the only one and sure they are making intrest off my money. I AM SO FRUSTRATED now I have no money at all to pay my bills and have to wait for another month for my paycheck.
I at least wanted to go to my local walmart and get my money back and they wouldn't let me.
Boy, I hope you dont get scammed by the Wal-mart money card :(

HACKED
I got a Money Card and within 5 days I was told the date was wrong and to put one they gave me down and then I couldn't buy anything bause the CVC # on back was wrong. They did nothing so I feared I was hacked and found a place on line that I bought with the 250.00 I had in it. It was really bad and had to buy something I didn't need just to gt my money out. I was then able to close the card.

Poor Service all the way around
Tried to activate card last night online and I was told that I would only receive a temporary card. I called to ask why and I was told that their third party system would not verify my information. I tried to verify it carefully going over all my info to make sure spelling was correct. He then told me it was pointless because it waws already denied by the post office. So I said there was a problem with my address which was strange because someone who just moved in with me that has not had a change of address used my address and had a card mailed to them. But me, the owner was denied. I then asked to speak to a supervisor...placed on hold for ten minutes before I was disconnected. Second call got better, I was told that it was not my business to know who was verifying my information...name, address and full social number...WOW! Asked for supervisor and was disconnected. Still holding for someone an hour later with sense. The manager now says that the national database of the united states has my social security number...This is a complete waste of time...I will never buy one of these again.

This card is a scam by GE capital and Walmart!
No funds are available to the consumer until the permanent card arrives in the mail.
This has been reported to several regulatory agencies.
This one is ripe for class action.

THIS CARD IS A SCAM!
This card doesn't allow you to withdraw funds until the permanent card is mailed to you -days later.
Walmart and GE capital seem to be ripping off thousands of people with this interest stealing SCAM!
It seems they've (Walmart & GE Capital) have even gone as far as trying to make this go away by having one of there people post comments to the contrary here on complaints board.

HELPFUL to THEFTS
I purchased an Walmart Money Card for my cousin and kept the authorization number so that it could not be used by anyone but my cousin. The card was stolen in the mail. When I called Walmart asked them to cancel the card because it was stolen. They told me that they gave the authorization number to the theft because they called for the authorization number. I asked for a refund of my money since they gave the authorization code to the theft. The employee and then the manager told me that there was nothing they could do to get me back my money even though it was their fault that the card was used by the thefts. I will never ever use a pre paid card by Walmart ever again and that includes their gift cards because only a STUPID company would give the authorization number for a card to someone who doesnt have the number. I HATE WALMARTY MONEY CARD with a passion.

I purchased a walmart "money Card on Thursday, 8-5-10.
I funded the account with $248.00 at time of purchase.
I set up a personalized pin number for this card via there automated phone system.
Walmart claims you can use this card to withdraw cash from any ATM that displays the "Interlink" Logo.
I tried, unsucecsefully, to withdraw cash at 3 ATM's displaying the "Interlink" Logo. I even called the money cards automated Phone and changed the pin number. No luck. Everything in there (Customer service) system indicates no problems with the card. In reality...

Walmart and GE must be stealing lots of money they earn on other people's cash tied up on their "Money Card" (an oxymoron of ever there was)
This card doesn't allow you to withdraw cash. Not even at Walmart itself or its ATM's.
I was only able to use this card as a Visa card for purchases. Couldn't even get cash back. The card only works for Visa type transactions.
Customer service is in the Phillipines. Help at Walmart is non existent.
Just recived the "permanent" card in the mail today, 08-09-10. I'll see if this one works in the morning.
