This company has caused me a massive amount of stress
I have spent 2.5 hours with AT&T customer service today trying to block text messaging on my 13 year old son's phone. They refused to find a way to get this done. It is outrageous that a company like this is condoning and not cooperating with parents like me who are trying to being responsible and ensure our children are not misusing texting. AT&T should be leader - but instead the company has caused me a massive amount of stress - shame on you.

billing scam
Ok seriously, if I don't find out wtf is happening to my phone bill, my mom will kill me.
I'm 17 and the only phone internet I use is to check facebook time to time, and I'm only on like 5 minutes at a time.
And I don't know starting when but I started getting these weird texts that said I had renewed my account on some weird site so I was like "oh no I have not".
So I asked my mom to check my phone bill and ask if anything weird had been charged but she said it was fine and there was nothing out of the normal.
So I started ignoring those texts and what do you know, starting on 3/28/2010 at&t started charging my mom extra money for this stuff that I DID NOT USE.
Here are the falling stuff that got subscribed to my phone.

The navigator, I might have activated on accident but the other stuff? wtf?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
So guess what. My phone bill jumped up to 210.15 dollars a month. Oh, have I said that I'M A STUDENT???
Oh yea, and my mom is a student too, and she's an imigrant so she can't legally work until I make her a citizen because I was born here so I am a citizen.
ANYWAY,
so the point is we live off her savings and the money the fam sends us.
And honestly, thats not a lot.
So my mom through a total b-fit and we're going to at&t tomorrow and she'll probably burn the place down if they don't give her some serious answers.
And I've seen a LOT of other complaints regarding the same stuff up there on this site.
So PLEASE SOMEBODY GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS.

Unfairness
I have had to intervene and get my sister into emergency to get immediate medical attention upon the recommendation of her doctor. Consequently, she had to go on leave based on the findings of the specialists. When she filed for disability so that expenses could be recovered and some form of compensation could be had during her recuperation period, AT&T denied the request despite all the medical documentation (with clear guidance from all the doctors concerned) proving that at the identified time she was unfit for work.

What a bunch of crap
I referred my daughter in July for her at&t internet. I called them and told them I didn't receive the credit so they had me re-register on their site. They had made a computer change and thats the only way to get on the system. they said it wouldn't be a problem! Now when I call they say that I referred her after she had signed up. What a bunch of crap! I'm going to the Atty General office to file a complaint.

frustrated with at&t
Hi.

We took AT&T DSL internet connect in August 2009. Since then every 10-15mins the modem would get disconnected and will reconnect by itself in 2-3 mins.

Several AT&T technicians came over last 6 months to fix the issue. Finally 2 technicians confirmend that AT&T central hub is more then 10000 feet from our house and they will not be able to provide the serivce they promised.

As per their advice we discontinued the service. Y'day i got a bill from AT&T where they are charging me 45$ for early termination fee.

How can they charge when they are not able to provide me the service? Whenever I call billing department they just try to connect me to 3 different departments and never really close the issue.

Seems to me like I was intentionally ripped off
I have called ATT on December 16, 2009 regarding the charges on my previous account when I was charged $200 for the technician's visit in conflict with the promised free installation. I was told by an ATT rep that he can fix the problem if I commit to a new agreement, what I did.

I was repeatedly told by him that I will get a refund ant there will be no technician's charge for a new upgraded connection and I will even get better speed at a lower $45/month price.

Well, I have received the credit, but also to my surprise - a new $120 "charge for jack work" and $55/month fee instead of the promised $45/month for the new account. Do I have to spent so much time and energy just to get back to square one and be ripped off by ATT? I demand to be treated by ATT as promised by it's representatives and expect a quick solution to the problem, unless I was intentionally ripped off, which would call for a different kind of action, of course.

Rebate
I moved and had to turn off my AT&T home phone/internet service. I just realized that the rebate check they had sent me to offset the cost of my modem is expired. I called to request that they reissue the check - this is money owed to me.

I was informed that "since [I am] no longer a customer with AT&T, those funds are no longer available." We're oh so sorry, we're keeping your 50 bucks.

Charged full month for 2 days of service
I received a collection notice for unpaid balance on my cancelled account. Having never received a billing notification for said balance, I checked online and saw that I was charged $33.66 for DSL service from 4/18-5/17, when I actually had the service only until 4/20.

This is because I upgraded from ATT DSL to ATT Uverse Highspeed internet, in response to a sales call made to me on 4/16. During that sales call I asked repeatedly whether there would be any additional charges to make the change and was assured that there would be none.

AT NO TIME was I informed that ATT DSL would bill me for an entire month of service when only two days of service were rendered.

It adds insult to injury that this appalling practice came to light because of a collection notice that accused me of "ignoring previous attempts to collect the outstanding balance, " when no bill was ever sent, either by US Mail or by email billing notification.

Furthermore, my attempts to dispute this charge online were rendered impossible becuase the link to dispute charges as described in the online help did not exist. Neither did an actual email address where I could address my concerns in a manner timely enough to avoid their sending my disputed charge to an outside collection agency and reporting my alleged negligence to credit bureaus.

Keep Getting Disconnected
I called AT&T home phone service in January 2010 to disconnect my service because of all the problems I had been having. When I told them to disconnect they said they were going to give me a better rate every month. A couple months later my answering service was disconnected and they said I requested it(NOT) when I asked them why my bill was higher now and not lower like they had promised I was told they only agreed to lower it for 1 month. In the last 2 months my Dish NetWork has been disconnected 3 times! This was AFTER I paid my bill. They cut me off on a Monday at 6am twice and this last time I had arrangements to pay my bill on May 23rd. On Saturday the 15th I received a disconnect notice for Monday May 17th. I called on May 17th(because they are not open on the weekends) and asked them about the notice. She said to just ignore it that my arrangement was for the 23rd. The very next day my satellite was turned off!!! I called and they reconnected me. I am so fed up with AT&T. I bet that I will be disconnected again in the morning since I just paid my bill today the 23rd as planned. My cell phone, home phone, satellite, and internet is with AT&T. That is over $400 a month they make off of me. It seems like they wouldn't do any of their customers this way. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Terminating DSL line by error and never come out to repair
AT&T terminated business DSL line by their mistake and never come out to repair the problem.

Our company is using 15 phone lines with AT&T including DSL internet service pack since 2005.
We are moving out to a different physical location, so the account termination request was made early May to be effective 5/27/10 via phone.

All of a sudden, last Friday 5/14/10 at 6pm, we lost our Internet connection. I thought it was just a router problem as usual, so didn’t even think that it was a big deal. On the next business day, Monday 5/17/10, I called AT&T internet support line and after transferring one to another for more than five times (very typical), I finally got hold of someone who can help me with the situation. The agent confirmed that it was supposed to be disconnected as of 5/27/10 but, FOR SOME REASON, it’s been terminated early.
If it’s for residential, it wouldn’t be a big issue, but we are running a business and how can we run the business without Internet connectivity?

I requested to reinstate the account and reconnect, but according to the agent, there is no way to reconnect to the same line once terminated.

The only solution is that they have to send someone out onsite and install it to one of the other phone lines. And….guess what, I was told that the next EARLEST schedule is 5/21/10.
Speechless….. I truly lost my temper at the point. They disconnect DSL line with their fault and now they are saying they can’t send out until Friday for Monday request.

Today, 5/21/10, AT&T tech support was supposed to come out, but never showed up. I called AT&T again and found out they won’t come out today but cannot guarantee when they are gonna come out.

OMG, we are moving out next Tuesday, 5/25/10!!! I am giving it up now. I don't recommend AT&T for any business line.
They are just so irresponsible even though know how important Internet connection is for running a business.
