Poor Service
I tracked my package, 1Z496215039312xxxx, it arrived here in Stockton CA on Tuesday morning 12/29/09, UPS won't deliver it until Monday 01/04/10 because that is when "they" re-scheduled it. My Ham radio parts that I desperately need are sitting about 1 1/2 miles away from me for six days. I called Customer Service and they told me I could pick it up at the Stockton CA facility, however the supervisor of this facility told me and the shipper that there is no way they will let me pick it up, I must wait until they attempt a delivery first, sox days later on the following Monday, they were rude and condescending. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of, it arrived in town on Tuesday and they won't even let me pick it up because New Years Day is on Friday. I will ship my packages on a mule before I ship them UPS.

None Delivery
I have been having tremendous difficulty in obtaining the package from UPS. They have been giving me the run around for the past 3 days now and still do not have the package. I already have spoken to the second supervisor now from UPS and I really don't know if these incompetent people will deliver. I even tried picking up the package at the UPS site and they said that the driver had the package and that he would deliver it before 5pm. Later on, after the package never arrived after 5pm, this is after my family and I wasted one whole day waiting for them, I called them and they told me that the package was at the UPS site and they don't know why the UPS personnel told me that it was being delivered when it arrived at their site at 1:30pm and never got delivered. The first supervisor told me that the package will be arriving today at 5pm. Today the second supervisor told me that the driver had gone home for the day and they would try again on Monday. I am very dissapointed and frustrated with their service and personnel. I find it difficult to believe that UPS is still in business when they have been delivering poor service and bad customer service to numerous people...

Won't Ring My Bell
The UPS center at Maspeth is notoriously bad at getting your package to your house in a timely matter. However, apparently there was a change of drivers for my area, and the week before Christmas showed an amazing improvement in UPS' deliveries. The driver actually left giant boxes behind the house, on a set of stairs to the basement.

This week, however, I ordered something with guaranteed two-day shipping. I was not at home at the time of attempted delivery, but I know there was someone there in my place. I came home to find an InfoNotice and proceeded to be frustrated. The driver actually came up to the house, only to not ring our door bell and leave a notice. Now, I have to wait until Monday the fourth because they won't deliver tomorrow, or Friday, or on weekends. I never use UPS willingly, and this just enforces that opinion.

responsibility is dead
On 12/20, I placed an order with a company I use all the time. I paid for 2-day shipping. I received an email on 12/21 I received an email from the company. The email was a confirmation that the product I ordered had shipped out with UPS and provided me with a tracking number.

On 12/26 when my package STILL had NOT arrived through UPS, I checked the tracking number. It said "billing information received." On 12/28 (a week later), I checked again, same status. I called UPS. Their answer essentially was that it "wasn't their problem." They told me to contact the shipper and ask them to call UPS. What? Where's the customer service UPS?? I asked them if they could be "proactive" and call the shipper. They gave me an array of reasons as to why they could not do this. UPS said they couldn't even confirm if they received the package from the shipper. I was dumbfounded!! Seriously, in this computerized age they can't tell me confidently if a package was shipped or not?!? Gimme a break!

Finally, the kicker of it all was when I asked about the 2-day shipping I paid for and if it was going to be refunded. I was told that during this "peak season" they can't guarantee anything. Again -- WHAT?!? There was no disclaimer when I bought the product, and I was charged for 2-day which means that UPS charged the shipper and gladly accepted the money. What a rip-off!!

UPS sucks!!

On a happier note though, I contacted the shipper and they are overnighting a new product to me free of charge. I requested that they NOT use UPS. :)

Bad Bad Service
So you UPS said they would deliver by the 25th (Christmas). It shipped out on the 19th. I figured, they said the 25th, I'd give them to the 26th. Now, they are delivering on the 31st. It was a gift for my wife. She and I understood that it would be 'delayed' as standard shipping takes 4-6 days for this item which weighs under 12lbs. However, we were hoping to get it by the weekend since we would be visiting family. Now, some may say... it is delayed due to the holiday season.

Well, I worked for UPS unloading trucks on the rollers. 2000 packages per hour per 2 persons. And although more trucks come in during the holiday season, there are more docks, and more employees to handle them. So the delay is not because of the volume. In fact, UPS prides itself on efficiency. UPS delivers over 1 million packages a day. Very much like the Post Office, which handles 800, 000 packages a day. So it isn't the volume increase, because the system can handle it. So what is it?

It's the personnel. UPS employees don't care about your package. They don't care about damaging... about losing them... in fact many OPEN them... to peek if it's something they like. High end purses, cell phones, car parts, were some of the things I know were taken from customers. And they wanted to open the boxes going to rich zip codes such as beverly hills, manhattan beach, malibu, palos verdes, santa barbara, montecito, etc.

UPS publishes their findings on efficiency, volume, satisfaction. However, they don't publish any findings on complaints, unsatisfied customers, and damaged goods.

So when I sent out (2) large picture frames from a small business I own, I had the UPS clerk package them (otherwise they're not insured - even if you pay for insurance - very fine print). I knew the risks. And sure enough, they lost (1), damaged another. It was sent back to the hub were it layed for 8WEEKS. All along, I had UPS customer service saying that the item was thrown in the trash because it was unsalvageable. And who decides what is unsalvageable? The guy that damages it. The same guys that kicks to make sure it's broken more. The same guy that looked in the box, liked it, and the placed it as a damaged item. Usually, even damaged items make it back. However, sometimes, when they see that it isn't pricey or if there was no insurance (or the possiblity of paying on a claim), the simply discard it.

The following is the communication between myself and UPS: " Subject
General / General

Dear Jessica, The main reason why I'm petitioning to you is because the personnel at the store "don't know anything about it", is what I've been told. I have gotten no call backs and no information other than what I find on UPS.com. The personnel is completely unconcerned and unprofessional. All I want, is my item back, regardless of the condition. There is no reason to keep it and/or dispose of it. I paid a fee to handle this item, which was clearly marked "fragile" several times. Now the item is broken and I'm getting no answers, from them or you. Jessica, this is a start up business and these were my first orders. Two (2) of them resulted broken. Clearly the lack of knowledge at the UPS Store and the failure to expressively inform the customer contributed to this issue. I am not happy with the service at UPS so far. I must ask that you close my account and delete my information from your system. I expect my item to be returned as UPS has no right to keep, dispose of, or otherwise keep MY property. You were paid to handle, not decide it's outcome. I can care less about the claim, I would like my item back."

UPS Customer Service"

Well, 2 months later, I received a card saying I could pick up my item at the Cerritos customer center.
I didn't. I refunded my customer her money. I switched to FedEx. I just received an invoice for $53.45 from UPS for my account dues. Didn't I cancel that account with customer service. Oh yea, they don't care.

Bottom line... DON'T USE UPS. As a former customer, a former employee, and current FedEx user, DON'T USE UPS.

Fail to deliver
My son's aunt in California shipped a package more than a week before Christmas. The first time UPS tried to deliver (12-21-09), everyone was at work. They left a card saying they would try again the next day. Problem is, everyone was at work AGAIN. They tried one more time, and instead of sending the package to the local UPS (less than 6 miles from our house), they SENT THE PACKAGE BACK. Way to go, UPS. Thanks for ruining my sons' Christmas.

Late deliveries, no information
I am increasingly frustrated by UPS delivery, my last 6 deliveries were consistently 2-3 days late. The driver didn't make any attempt and put a fake entry in the tracking system" Recipient no available". But in reality he never made an attempt as i was home that day/time ( since i work from home) and there was no info notice on the door.

My last delivery was a " 2 day service " and reached me after one week. Even then finally i have to pick it myself from the local UPS facility.

I have lodged several complains about it with customer service, but no body ever returned the call.

Even now when i am writing this complaint, i am waiting for a delivery to happen, but i know it won't happen. Interestingly the system shows delivery happened at some place in IL and i live in CT date of delivery is 12/03.

UPS has delivered the shipment.

Residential deliveries that do not require a signature may be left in a safe place, out of sight and out of weather, at the driver's discretion. This could include the front porch, side door, back porch, or garage area. If you have instructed the driver to leave the shipment with a neighbor or leasing office, this would be noted on a yellow UPS InfoNotice left by the driver.

UPS Does Not Prctice what they preach
I am a Christmas help employee for UPS in Montana. We make $8.50 an hour to ride along with a driver and deliver packagess. My driver chewed tobacco and spit it out in the street and on peoples property. He drove the truck while texting, he almost hit a small chevy. i had to yell watch it.

We are constantly getting in and out of truck and are told to run, drop pacakege, no pl;astic protection, sometimes no signatures and are told to just drop at front door. Even if the package is visible. They do not respect the helpers . i was told by the driver that the good thing about ups is that they don't drug test. What? Thats scary...

IDIOT DRIVERS
I ordered christmas gifts online to be delivered on 12/15/09. My hubby works nites so he stayed alert all day waiting for UPS to deliver. After no sign of package around 7pm that day, i checked tracking. I was alarmed when ups claims that the package was delivered 10am 12/15. Further investigation revealed that driver "claims" the package was left behind a DUST PAN on the porch. WTF... a box containing 299.99 game system was left with no knock, ring, or rap on the door. Not even placed between front door. UPS claim that it is the drivers discretion to leave packages. The driver must be an IDIOT to leave any box behind a flimsy DUST PAN. Right now iam sitting waiting for the replacement to arrive. I will not be using UPS if I can avoid it. They are moroons.

Workers steal your items
I know someone personally (regret) that often BRAGGED about how they would see on the delivery sticker what store the items were coming from and if they were of intrest they would OPEN the box! If they felt like it was their size or what ever else they considered they would STEAL it and pretend like it never came through UPS! What a fraud and lack of respect for peoples money!! Ever since I found that out I avoid UPS at all cost! I dont want to state names or locations because one day they will get caught but not by me. Has anyone else had this or similar experience?
