My husband & I submitted a IBR (Income-based repayment) application to ACS on July 20, 2009. ACS received the paperwork on 7/27/09. The ACS website states to "allow thrity (30) for processing of the application. It has now been two months (9/21/2009)and the application "is still being processed". In April of 2009 I called and signed up for a real estate saleperson course with customer service. At that time I was not told nor did I receive via email notification that there was a 30 day refund policy. I started the course and answered a few questions. I first attended the Canadian Aesthetic Academy in 2007, and as soon as I finished my first week at school there. I had a list of complaints that the other students and I created. Sylvan Learning Center in Lincoln Village, Chicago, treats its employees poorly and takes advantage of its customers. Don’t even bother wasting your time. You work hard there, but for little to no money. They steal money from their employees by not providing them with paychecks for 6 months. I have attended this school for two semesters. I was sucked with a weak sales pitch from an admissions officer. She was very pushy and convinced me I needed to start NOW. I am very dissatisfied with this school. I was considering signing up for one of their medical programs to get training for a new career. I was not sure which program would be a good fit. I just finished failing my CPNE. I have been an LPN for 15 years. I currently work in an acute care hospital. I have been working slowly twards my RN for many years now. I should have known that it was to good to be true!! I had enrolled at Ashford in June of 2008. I made it clear that since I did not work and had no income coming in that I needed finacial aid and all of my loans on time in order to purchase the books and other materials needed so that I could do well in my classes. This is a "so they say university". The target military personnel for their government money to use towards their degrees. They can't target regular civilians because they can't get Title 4 Funding from the government because they are not a fully accredidated univesity. So military falls prey to them. Their degrees are only nationally accredidated and those degrees have lots of restriction on them. They will not transfer into another college. Basically they are almost a "Diploma Mill". I applied for one of about 60 or 70 tutor positions with this company. They did one group interview with about 6 of us. It was extremely structured where we had to write down what each other said to questions, which was subject to each other's interpretation. For some reason, although I had just received my BS in 12/2007 and had a GPA of 3.9, I wasn't good enough for this company. I am left to believe it was based on my age. I consolidated all my student loans in 2004 before my graduation, but the DeVry did not release one of the loans indicating that I was still in school. Documents were submitted to have the loan release but DeVry referred to this loan as "In school Status", hence, hindering the consolidated process of my school loans.
