I applied to this school with the hopes of furthering my education; however, now that I am enrolled I see how wrong I was. My husband enrolled in a 2 year program for Surgical Technology. He was top of his class. Upon graduation My husband was unable to receive his diploma. Last year this company called and represented themselves as the "Tried and True Yellow Pages", which they are not. Almost instantly they began making harassing phone calls wanting payment. I did pay them thinking I was done with them. This year they called again stating thta I owe for the second year of the contract. I have read a lot of student reviews of Strayer which specifically seem to point to problems with financial aid or the business office areas of the "university", and of course there is some complaint about the professors. In 2003 after getting out of the military, I decided to go to City College for Bus. Administration. Upon applying they advised that I had to take out a mandatory loan. Ok, fine, this will pay my tuition. Well, I applied for Ch. 35 VA benefits and was awarded, and these benefits would pay tuition and books. While the education for students is held to a decent level at Keiser University, take caution to accept employment with them. The president at the Sarasota campus has numerous charges against her with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission due to her lack of knowledge, understanding or respect for the disabled. i Attended a 3-day workshop and signed up for educational seminars pertaining to investing in stocks. After 3 months of trying to attend --I gave up. None of the live classes were offered and no current classes were listed on the website. The webinars that were offered, were a nightmare to get logged on to. Toronto Truck Driving School runs an ad which states, among other things, in class lessons and late model trucks. I did not receive any in class lessons. The truck was old with many malfunctions (horn, lights) They charge you per hour, telling you that each lesson is 45 minutes. The truck was never ready to go when I arrived so I was usually waiting 10-15 minutes for it. He called her back on a wed and said that it had been arranged and that all she had to pay was an insurance fee to secure the loan of about $1300.00. This place is co crazy. It was the one of the most expensive mistakes I have ever made. Let's start with the classes. There are no instructors or teachers. The root word of teacher is "teach" and let me tell you that is definately not what they do. Anything I know I taught myself. My son was a student at this school for 5+ years. The school was initially named UMAC-United Martial Arts Centers. At first the school was run in an excellent manner. Sanford Brown will say whatever they have to, in order to get you to register as a student. Their programs tend to be slightly outdated, specifiaclly their dental assisting program. Their focus is more on technicalities of the state so they can stay open tho they really dont comply as a teaching device. Today I took the test they offered where they claim is all I need to pass the DMV test in Minnesota. Turns out only a couple of these questions were in the test so as you would have guessed, I FAILED. Now I have to read the book tonight and waste time tomorrow morning again by misisng out hours from work. This company is a complete ripoff. I called for a refund and they rejected to do so.
