We booked rooms through travel link this past spring. We showed up only to find out that they did not have all rooms available. They put some of us in bank owned rooms (cops came and shut us out). This in addition some rooms not having heat, hot water, and other amenities. We are still trying to get our money back from this utter disaster. We have engaged a lawyer to assist becuase we are talking about thousands of dollars in refunds. People that mislead us and did not give us our refunds. On May 7, 2009 Country Inn & Suites of Calabasas, CA inappropriately charged my Discover card $150. They allege that someone smoked in one of our two guest rooms. They posted the charge more than 24 hours after we checked out of the hotel without ever discussing the matter with anyone in my party of four, none of whom smoke. They insist I agreed to the membership on a pop-up ad and I KNOW I did not (who has money now to buy a vacation membership?). My husband & I tood the Hawaiian Cruise in April 2009 on Pride of America. This is the WRONG name for this cruise! Checked in on a very late Fri. night to be greeted with a sea full of people outside and in the lobby/front desk area. Music was extremely loud. Went to Hospital after a night of severe kidney pain and unable to move/leave until about 4:30 a.m. I have a pelvic kidney and something was wrong that night. While kidney is usually smaller, deformed and turned backward, I never had problems before this. Radiology tests from this visit showed it to be much larger than usual and now larger than good left kidney. My wife and I stopped to stay at the Super 8 Motel in Elk City, Ok. We asked for a non-smoking room because I am a lung cancer survivor. We get into the room and the room smelled of smoke. I reserved a room at the resort for one night, for $498. When I found that the boat I was meeting in Nassau was arriving early, I called Atlantis to cancel the room. As I was calling six days ahead of time, I guessed there would be a penalty. What I didn't figure on was that I would be penalized for TWO nights. I was approached by this man at an expo in Minneapolis about doing a 'trade' for a service I was offering. He was offering free two nights and three days at resorts and hotels around the country. When I called him later to schedule the hotel visits, he informed me that there was a $25 'application fee'.
