I took a cruise on NCL, the Dawn, this summer to Bermuda and the Bahamas. There were 10 of us - 5 rooms on deck 10. Various problems - horrible service, rude staff, lost shoe from luggage, room keys that wouldn't open causing us to lose the use of 1 room for the first full day, poor quality food. Whenever we tried to get help the response from management was terrible and very rude. I am having SEVERE problems trying to get reimbursement for clothing I had to purchase while in Paris, Bern and Lucerne Switzerland. I had travel insurance with Trip Mate. I have been dealing in a long drawn-out process since June 4, 2006. Delta Airlines left a container of luggage sitting on the tarmac, located it several hours after I arrived in Paris on June 5, 2006. I have a credit for a flight from July 21, 2005 when I had to cancel a return only flight from Halifax to Victoria because of car trouble on a cross country trip and could not meet the time to fly home to BC. I had cancellation Insurance at the time and did think to call them to report this. So I had only one year to use the credit or lose it. As it happens . We have yet to take advantage of the "wonderful" vacation experience that we purchased. As a "proud" owner of a worthless vacation, I still cannot believe we bought into this scam. On July 4, we attended a 90-minute timeshare presentation and purchased a one bedroom suite from Sunset Lagoon Beach for $10,000. We were pressured relentlessly over and over from their sales people. 1. Upon arrival to our room, we discovered that there were ants in our bed, in fact, the room was swarming with them. We contacted Guest Services immediately. Guest services wanted to spray pesticide. I refused because I am allergic to pesticide. Upon my refusal, I was given another room within a few hours. My wife was in an automobile accident and in intensive care. I called the University Park Hotel @ MIT hotel 9 days in advance to cancel the reservation. I was informed that the reservation could not be cancelled and that the credit card had already been billed. Consumers should be aware of the cancellation policy. We recently flew it Italy via Euro Fly. Our departure was supposed to leave @ 4:45 pm on 07-28-06. We started boarding at 7:00 pm, taxied to the runway at 7:30 pm. There were about 15-20 airplanes waiting on the runways for takeoff before us........we didn't leave until 9:00 pm. So we sat on the airplane for two hours. I was kind enough to bump off a flight that United Airlines had overbooked. I sat in the airport quite a few hours waiting for the next flight. I have not used my voucher yet and now we have an emergency where I need to use it. When I agreed to be bumped I did not know about the ticket until after I bumped for them or the 14 days waiting period to use this voucher. This company sends fax listings of vacation package deals. Takes your money and sends nice brochures. But when it's time to arrange a stay, they are non-responsive, they ID your incoming phone calls, and then do not answer your calls. The secretary takes messages, but no one calls us back. We lost $500.00 in purchasing a package and could never get an answer back from an employee. AARP recomended Generation X as a site for older, handicapped people that like to travel. Generation X recommended 123 Free Travel club. I went to 123 Free Travel web site and signed up on July 1st, 2004 for $189. On July 6th I noticed the small print at the bottom of the web site that said 'restrictions apply'. I clicked on this and found out that to receive these free services I would have to go to specific places & stay in certain hotels for a set amount of time.
