Awful place
After receiving our VISA card May 2008 we were encouraged to use it to enhance our new business of which we did; remodeling, new fixtures and such. After paying $50 to $100 over and above the required minimum payment and never paying late or missing a payment we were informed that our interest rate is to almost double. The excuse from VISA customer service was that we are not paying off the debt aggressively enough. I asked if that was the case why would they not require a larger monthly payment? They said that would not help the situation. I asked what amount of payment would be satisfactory to avoid this shake down and she said she was not in a position to tell me the required amount. So Bank of America VISA is basically extorting a larger interest rate out of us because we have been paying our debt plus some and have made timely payments. If this is not resolved we will pay off the debt in full and transfer all of our corporate accounts out of this mafiaso organization. What a disgrace these people are.

Lowering Credit Limits / Increasing Interest Rates
Bank of America lowered my personal credit card from 25k to 18k limit and I have 17.5k on that card. Now I am so close to the limit it makes my debt ratio look bad. They also increased my interest rate on my small business card from 13.24 to 26.99%. My credit score is in the mid 700's and I have never been late on a payment and always pay way more than the minimum. I have been a customer of BOA for a very long time and have all of my bank accounts with them. I am thinking of transferring all my debt to other cards and closing all my accounts with them. This is no way to treat loyal customers. Keep me posted on the status of a class action law suit. I'm in!

Overcharged
I have held several accounts with Bank of America that I am now in the process of closing. Six years ago I opened a checking account that I was told "No Fee, No minimum balance". Beginning in February on this year I noticed the Bank started to deducted an unauthorized fee from my account. Just because I entrusted them with my account information should not legally allow them to begin taking money from it. And six years later??? Most businesses would send a bill not go directly into your account. I went to the branch office and was told it was an error and they credited the money back. Again in April I found another deduction. This time I called and was told they told me they have never offered a "No minimum balance account" and that I could avoid the fee if I opened another account. I fully intend to open another account but never again with Bank of America.

Awful bank
I had received my statement from Bank of America and everything looked fine. I went online like I do several times a week to double-check my BOA account. Lo and behold the credit card limit had been lowered from $22, 000 to $15, 000. Had not received a letter or anything. We are never late and have had a credit card with them for over 11 years. I called the credit department and they said that since we had not utilized our high credit limit they were lowering it since it appeared we didn't need it. Can you believe this? Anyway I looked on-line and found a site with hundreds of similar stories about BOA lowering credit limits or raising interest rates, etc. (http://www.consumeraffairs.com/finance/bofa_cc.html). Many of the people were not sent letters regarding the lowering of credit limits and in the process went unknowingly over their credit limit and were penalized. Also when credit card companies lower your credit limit this is reported to the credit bureaus and it lowers your credit score. Bank of America is not the only company guilty of this. We closed our account by the way. I would recommend everyone not to get too complacent in regards to their credit card companies. These companies can do what they want and we the consumer have no say at all.

denied a credit
I bought E efficient windows...but I did not get what I ordered..B of A, despite my documentation, and I had to send it over 6 times...would not give me a credit. And then they have closed my other cards, even tho I have paid in full every month for over 10-years and have ruined my credit score and file...

Ridiculous Overdraft Fee
I am outraged over the financial rape Bank of America is allower to get away with. On my checking account, I have several transactions pending. All funds were in the account before the transactions posted, but because technically/on paper, I was overdrawn. The charged me 2 - $35 fees. They never paid out any of their money in my regard. They used my money in my account. I bank with another bank and they do not charge a fee as long as all monies are in the account before the transaction actually posts.

I found a wallet - bank couldn't care less
Today I found a wallet in the #6 subway station at 23rd St., NYC. Among the variety of cards inside was a BofA debit card. Unable to find the owner via phone or the web, I called Bank of America, figuring they could pass my name and number on to the rightful owner.
1st call to BofA customer service: After three transfers, I was disconnected.
2nd call to BofA customer service: After one transfer, I was disconnected.
3rd call to BofA customer service: The customer service rep took the number down and promptly closed the account. Then she told me she couldn't pass my information on to the card holder. "We're an incoming center only, " she explained.
"How do I get an outgoing center, then?" I asked.
"We don't have outgoing centers, " she answered.
I finally reached the wallet owner through a nearby dance studio, whose card was also in the wallet. The owner, of course, was quite grateful.
As a would-be good samaritan, I was terribly frustrated in my dealings with the bank, which sought only to protect its own interests, not those of the customer.
So a word to the wise: If you lose your wallet and you're a Bank of America customer, odds are good that you'll never see the wallet again, even if an honest citizen wants to return it to you.

Overcharged
On March 11, 2009 I attempted to make a $1000.00 payment on my credit card account I have with Bank of America. The normal online system was not working at that time so I called the help line and they directed me to another web site called "easypay.com". I made the payment and thought everything was fine until I checked my account activity on line on March 25th, 2009. To my surprise, due to a routing or account number error with my bank the $1000.00 payment had been charged back to my card along with a $39.00 late fee.
I immediately called an account representative and he explained what happened with the routing/account number and agreed to waive the $39.00 late fee and credit me back $164.00 of interest charged to may account because of the error. At that time I questioned why I had $519.73 of charges that were showing as a cash advance as I had never used the cash advance option on this card. The interest rate on a cash advance is 24.99% apr. as compared to 15.99% apr which is the normal rate on this account. He said he would move that out of that area and into the lower interest rate options as the whole error had been resolved and that I was not to worry about it.
On April 1, 2009 I rechecked my account and found that I was only credited $19.50 on the late fee and not the full $39.00 as promised and the $519.73 was still being charged the 24.99% as if it were a cash advance. When I asked about the account reps that said it would be taken care of she said they lied to me.
I contacted the help line again and spoke to the supervisor, Sally Tordoff, and she informed me that it could not be moved out of the cash advance interest rate, they would not refund me the rest of the $39.00 late fee, and that I was at fault for being late with the payment. I offered to pay of the $519.73 at that time so I would not be subjected to the 24.99% rate until the account is paid off. She said that was not possible. She admitted having problems with their webiste and even at that time I could not make a payment because the site was not working correctly. She actual;y wanted me to use the "easypay.com" web site again.
I have been a customer with B of A since 1988 and this is very poor treatment. The $519.73 at 24.99% apr could add another $2000.00 in interest I will have to pay over the life of this loan..This is just another way for B of A to to rob from the customer.

Home Loan & Credit Card Issues
Bank of America received stimulus money for bad decisions. I have been out of work for almost 3 months now and they will not do anything due to that fact I have a BofA Credit Card and Home Loan and I collect unemployment despite the fact that my debt is more than 150 % of my unemployment. And 120% is from BofA debt alone.
