Scholastic Books sends books to homes of people that did not order them or sends no books at all and then sends bills for these books that you never ordered or received in the first place. When you don't pay, they send bogus collection letters from North Shore Agency. I found out on the Internet that North Shore Agency in this case is little more than the company that sends a letter from Scholastic to make it look more official and intimidating. I was trying to purchase some software from Audacity (Audio Software) and was asked to fill in detail and purchase via internet...somehow, I do not know how I found myself on a web page with offers of downloading google earth, and lots of other downloads. Philips warranties these lamps for 90 days but the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on ! I installed this bulb in late August, it failed last Tuesday. i recently bought a 50inch toshiba television from coons . I purchased product online and was sent email with download site information. Neither websites were active and downloads did not take place. I did call the telephone number given out on their website and contacted customer service. They agreed to cancel my online purchased and refund my purchase. I can only hope that they follow through with their promise. Also I'll be keeping track of the billing to that credit card for possible scams. In March a representative from U.S. Subscription Services kept calling about a deal that they had for us to BlackBelt Magazine, which we have a subscription in my son's name, who is a minor. The agent told us they had a deal for us to extend the subscription for 3 years, because Black Belt was raising its prices. They wanted a credit card number which I refused to give them. Four charges for magazines appeared on my credit card statement. I never received any notice of renewal which should be criminal. When I called TWX at 1-800-927-9651, I got an automated system that allowed me to cancel my magazine. BEWARE: Please listen very carefully to all the options as only one allows you to cancel your magazines and receive a credit on your statement for the issues you want to cancel. This company was so quick to talk me into getting me magazine subscriptions at a cheaper price than normal. However, they did not begin shipping me the magazines until 3 months later. After I asked them if I could cancel, they said that I would have had to mail in the cancelation notice and they would have had to receive it two days after I spoke with them on the phone. Previously in my apartment complex TVMAX was the only cable service provided, unless you wanted to get DISH and lock yourself into a contract. This companies service as far as install and issues.. is terrible.. either they don't show up and you have to reschedule. The sales consultant of their company told me that it is a 'sure thing' and there are 'guaranteed profits' to this. Since he worked nights and they would call early in the morning when he was half asleep, he had no idea what it was. I contacted them to find out who they were and what their service was. In June of this year, a young man came to my door with a story about trying to achieve so many points to win a trip and an opportunity to start his own business. I ordered a magazine subscription (5 years, Country Weekly). The cost was $70, plus $12 fee. I have not received any magazines, the check was cashed almost immediately.
