Bad Product
The Magic Jack is not only a poorly designed and functioning product but it also has the potential to cause serious damage to the hard drive of your computer. After more than 3 hours of installation frustration and going through 6 technicians, the Magic Jack did work. I made a call and lost it but thought perhaps it was a start-up problem. I then went back to my daily work (after losing 3 hours) only to find that my hard drive had been wiped clean. I lost 8 years of work and thousands of documents.
The staff at Magic Jack are badly trained (thus 6 of them had to wok on my installation), they know nothing about Canadian systems and email addresses and it is impossible to speak with anyone. Several times during the installation, a little bell rang in my head to stop this nonsense, but I kept going.
Then, I turned off my computer while on a 7 day vacation and now it does not work at all.
If you are a Canadian - DO NOT BUY THE MAGIC JACK. You will probably be, as I am, very sorry. In my opinion they are simply working the numbers. The more they sell the more they keep knowing that probably 50% will send it back.

false advertizing
when I first got the device, they said it's free calls I can make any where in the US and canada and they gave me 1 month free trial. after a month, they said I made too many calls and they cut me off exactly one month later after I paid $33.99 for the device and $19.99 service

BAD service
Bad customer service, I have been waiting for resolution with my request for 2 days now. After talking to 6 custoer service reps - nothing.
No phone numbers to escalate a problem. All support are done in chat. Customer Service offer bad service and and theres nobody monitoring them. No checks and balances. They are free to do what they please and even say
"Marykate: If you still insist regarding your issue, I might as well end this chat."
DO NOT buy the product. Its been hell dealing with them.

Consumer Fraud
For more than one year now, Magic Jack has promised land line number portability. I bought the Magic Jack with the expectation that my land line number would be or could be ported to Magic Jack only to find out, after I purchased the device and 5 years of service that it could not be ported --- they kept telling me, shortly, shortly, shortly. Well, in over a year, that time has not come. And now, they REFUSE to refund my money to me. Any of it. I am going to be seeking legal counsel to see if a class action complaint can be filed against this company. Please keep checking this website for details, should you want to join me too. Thank you!

Never again
Went to register and the software completed w/o assigning number. terminal now will not work and they refused to fix. Now being told extra 10.00 for number. Worst customer service ever. refused to help and assign number without 10.00. Never again with this company.

payed for service without receiving service
Have purchased and used a majic jack for for a few years, no major problems. last week my original MJ unit malfunctioned. I called MJ and was told my unit was out of warranty, so I purchased a new unit which I installed a few days after delivery. While I had the original MJ unit, purchased an international calling plan to be able to call my son in the military overseas. Everything worked fine until I installed the replacement unit. From that point on, I have unable to use the International calling service, even tho I still have a $15.88 credit on my account. I have spent six days trying to resolve the problem with no positive results. I purchased an additional $10 of service thinking that would rectify the problem...not so.. Now MAJIC JACK is in to me for $20(new unit) $15.88 (credit on account) and $10 for additional international srvice. TOTAL=$45.88 and no one at mj can solve what seems to me to be a simple problem.v MY FINAL ASSESSMENT OF MJ...PRODUCT=GOOD SERVICE= SUCKS Would not reccomend it

questionable billing
My first clue was that the disclaimers make you agree to accepting the term that Magic jack can for any reason, and at any time discontinue their service without refund. I returned my first magic jack as i was unable to agree to those terms.
I finally tried a second time. Had good service with device but when came time for renewal was only given 5 year option at 77 dollars.
Well recalling the terms of service being.. We can cut you off any time for any reason... I just cant hand over my money. AND YES there is NO customer service at all!

"Pending" Charges
I ordered their "free" "no charges" trial period for 30 days. 1 minute later there appeared a double charge in my bank account. There is no phone number to call and their customer service chat people are not allowed to give you a phone number. I finally found a number through the Better Business Bureau. It took 5 more days for the "pending" charges to be deleted from my account. All the time the Magic Jack people sustained that these pending charges would not be taken out of my balance until after the trial period. But my bank told me that in fact the charges were taken out of my available balance. There was absolutely NO INDICATION that my bank account would be charged, or a breakdown of the amount charged, or the fact that they can place the charge twice in the Magic Jack TV ad, their website. Their representatives kept denying that there would be charges.

Calls break up
I recently purchased a Magic Jack and we love the concept but sometimes our calls break up on our end of the call. I have looked for either a website or phone number to speak with someone but to no avail. Can you please help me to get a contact number. I want to keep the Magic Jack, if at all possible but would like to speak to someone about the audio issue.
