We have been an avid customer of Direct TV for over 10 years. We recently purchased an HDTV. We called Direct TV to hook up the service on this 1 TV. The guy came out and hooked it up. I purchased Nero 7 a while back as a direct download form their site. I thought I was updating the program, when instead it tried to upgrade which entailed erasing my program. I sent the company emails requesting another download. I provided them with my license code. They tried to give me the earlier edition (I don't even think it would work with Vista anyhow) I sent other emails telling them what I had originally purchased and what OS I had. They talked me into their phone service. The service was poor and they billed more than advertised. Quit their phone service after 5 months but still had billing problems. I always paid what I agreed to but billing was always off. After months of trying to work out with long phone calls, they agreed to a fair credit for past billing errors. The software I ordered didn't make any difference w/ my computer. I noticed the day after I ordered it, my bank account had been charged 4 times instead of 1. I called ascentive, who admitted it was their fault, and the refund was complete. I called my bank, who told me they had not recieved authorization for the refund. Then I called ascentive again. Sent in the card for the special 1 year subscription to Runners World magazine. The subscription expired Jan 2009. I didn't want to renew a second year, so I did nothing. Against my intention, the company automatically renewed the magazine. Early Feb 2009 I received a notice from the North Shore Agency requesting collection for payment. Me and my partner bought a Sumsung LCD 3 months ago. When we first brought it home and unpacked it the plastic around the tv was distorted and melted looking, we returned it and got another. I have received another bill in the mail, from Charles Martin for Playboy. Stating there going to turn us over to collections, if we don't pay the balance of $15.96 on Magazines, we never have received. There is no telephone number on this bill, so your not able to contact anyone, to stop collections. We are not paying for a Magazine we did not receive or Subscribe to. A young man (id.#0989) sold us two magazine subscriptions which were Bon Appetit, 36 issues, and Games for Windows, also 36 issues. One subscription was $54.00 and the other was $68.00 with a $10.00 process and handling fee for a total of $132.00. This was done on 5-21-08. We have yet to see either one of them, and I'm afraid we probably won't after going on-line today and seeing the other complaints. Ken Kirkpatrick Software is Junk! I saw Ken Kirkpatrick Software at a software show in Birmingham. I purchased their name software and I have had nothing but problems I called Mr Kirkpatrick for customer support and he shouted at me telling me that I was wasting his phone bill. On February 2, 2009, I accepted an offer from a company named Magazine Burst, (as part of a promotion to receive a free laptop), to subscribe to 5 magazines for a price of $27. Shortly thereafter, (same day), my credit card was charged a total of $93.95 by a company named Publications Max (publicationsmax.com). When I googled the telephone number (888-624-2877) I discovered that the magazine offer was an internet scam. Our internet connection got slower and slower. We were assured by Qwest that the problem wasn't with them. Our many iterations of AVG said everything was hunky-dory. Finally, on February 4th, 2009, someone checked the router and discovered that we were a clearing house for what looks like half the marijuana transactions on the West coast. They had taken over nine computers and space on twenty hard drives and were basically squeezing us off our own broadband connection. I received a book I never ordered. I emailed Reader's Digest about it and never heard back so I donated the book. I have too many books for my book cases as it is. They sent me to their collection dept. and I am being harassed by them to pay for the book. I canceled my magazine subscription as a result and they had the gall to charge me for another year just recently. I ordered Comcast Internet service in May 2008 from Digital Landing, who promised a $125 Amazon gift certificate. I submitted my rebate forms in a precise and timely fashion, and began calling Digital Landing to follow-up in October, and have called numerous times (around 10) since then. The Redding Record Searchlight, even though it is a different county has posted articles 4 times on an assault charge. The articles are one-sided and lies. I haven't been able to find any similar articles for Siskiyou County posted in this newspaper. Siskiyou Daily News has put 9 articles in it's newspapers repeating a one-sided story, of an assault. Five of these articles were on the front page and four had mug shots of the suspects. I did research and found that other similar incidents are not covered at all or barely.
