Hired “My Handyman” to install a modular shower enclosure (already bought) at a vacant cottage. Owner Tina Gleisner told me 3 hours at $84/hr unless they had problems & I authorized more. No mention of “trip fees” or other add-ons. For this double-market rate hourly fee, they were to provide 2 skilled craftsmen with a minimum of 15 years experience each (on franchise website). Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer
The plastic washer drum casing failed after two years use. Water flowed over electrical parts and onto the floor, creating an electrocution hazard. The company has redesigned this part but has not issued a recall and will not make the repair. They have offered me the part free, but the labor will cost as much a new unit! Original Mattress Factory deserves a 1 out of 10, ie... as a last resort, you can weave blankets together to get better quality sleeping surface, if you run out of blankets... then consider a soft OMF product. The hardware is good, and a good deal, I had the frame set up in 2 minutes, solid, no tools. We bought 3000 worth of mattresses, sheets and bedframe parts to replace the ones damaged in a fire.

Hired this guy to do some kitchen cupboards for me, new doors for my old kitchen. At first I was just so excited to get them done I guess I was a bit naive. From the beginning he was hard to get a hold of, made stupid excuses as to why the cupboards were not finished yet. When we finally got them they looked OK - at this point I was 9 months pregnant and just wanted to get this ordeal over with - but soon after the paint started to peel. Service maintenance Contract
I bought a $92 service agreement on my sears dryer. I asked the service man to also check out why my Sears washing machine was not working properly and he told me that it would cost $80 for him to come out and look at the washing machine even though he was already coming out to perform the service maintenance on the dryer. Sears / Kenmore Double Oven
Our oven began beeping and displayed the error code "FO". We contacted Sears and they sent out a repairman who checked the oven and told us we needed an oven control module. He charged us $70 and the part cost $205. On 9/8/08 a repairman came to install the part and charge us another $137. On 9/11/08 the oven displayed the error code "FO" again. At this point I am starting to think this is a message from Sears to their customers.

ALL WEEK PLUMBING
Do not use this business. I was overcharge for a new air conditioner unit and they did faulty installation that cause my air conditioner unit to leak FREON. This unit was under warranty and they still charged me $500 to fill-up a 3 ton unit with FREON. Afterwards, I called another Plumber and they said this should have been covered under the warranty. He also said I was way overcharged for the price of FREON. I took this company to the BBB and they are still fighting. A&E Factory service is the absolute worst experience I have ever had in my entire life. They didnt show one time, they called and cancelled, they ordered the wrong parts. LOWES EXTENDED WARRANTY
Our Frigidaire stove that is a little over a year old, has a chip in the porcelain on the top of the stove. Since the manufacturer warranty recently expired, we contacted Lowe's as we had purchased an extended warranty at the time we purchased the stove. A service technician from A and E factory service came out on September 23, 2008. He deemed the defect to be cosmetic and had us sent touch up paint. Lowes states they do not cover cosmetic defects as part of their extended warranty. They keep referencing #4 under the General exclusion... read full review »
jenn air
I purchased an electric Jenn air range 2 years ago and have had to call for service 7 times. Jenn air will not cover latest call. (oven does not work) They will cover the cost of the part but not the service, which could be up to $300. I feel that the range I purchased was a lemon and would like Jenn Air to compensate me for my service calls until I can go at least one year without a problem. read full review »

Recently, I needed to buy a new suite of furniture. I was persuaded to try Seats and Sofas, instead of looking at the more reputable shops.
What a mistake. The service was so-so, and noone cared to point out to me that transport, in case of the product being faulty, as it became within two or three weeks of non-intensive use, was to be paid - not as one would expect, by the seller of faulty goods, but the buyer,

Few years ago I bought a side-by-side GE refrigerator from sears at Falls church, VA with an extended warranty. My warranty is still valid until 2010. Couple of weeks ago the refrigerator started having problems, and it stopped working. On the 13th of September I called for warranty support to fix this problem, and their customer service said they are going to send a tech on the 19th between 8am and 5pm which made me take a whole day off. Recently, after a break in our local water main, we had fine sand and gravel clogging our plumbing fixtures. I took apart our Delta kitchen faucet (which had been working fine before this), and when I reinstalled it, I couldn't get it to stop leaking.

Conns Appliance
Conns makes it easy to get credit, but if you miss a payment they start calling, harassing, threatening. They break the law when they call you. I don't know how the employees sleep at night. They are rude, nasty and ugly. They make you not want to pay them at all. Someone needs to look into the collection practices of this company.
I owe them right now and thought I will pay them, let them put it on my credit, I am sending the credit reporting agencies a letter detailing their crookedness.

I purchased a sandwich/waffle maker last December, thinking I would give it as a Christmas gift. I wrapped it and put it in my closet and forgot about it until this past June. I gave it to my daughter, and when we opened it, we discovered that one of the heating plates to make waffles was missing. I did not know where the receipt was, so I called the customer service number. I was basically told that without the receipt they could not help me; I would have to pay for a replacement plate. I made the mistake of going to one of there outlets, and first of all the sales person told me that it was new product that was considered overruns come to find out what they really sale is warranty returns and factory defects, bottom line junk! How great of Lowes to pride themselves on a guarantee competitor Price Match. However, they are NOT willing to price match their own Store. That's right one Lowes in one part of town has one price and the other Lowes a couple of miles down the road has another price - and guess what - they will NOT match it. I needed to make a claim for my dining room table that had burn marks from hot plates or cups and scratches. Before I made the claim, I did internet research and found many complaints about Ultrashield. It seems that they do not want to follow through with their warranties.

Who pry's wood off a porch just to take it to the paint shop to get a match????Well not this idiot! on my property who works at MC Painting. What a terrible experience I had. I recentlly purchased a hamilton beach coffee maker from walmart. After 7 months the coffee make broke due to material failer. Was guaranted for a year. Called Walmart and they said the time frame for them had expired and I needed to call the company. I called the company and they said they would not warrantee it either and that if I sent them moneyh they would send new part. On 9/27/08, less than 30 days of the purchase(9/6/2008), I try to return the microwave because the door did not open correctly and the defrost button did not work either. The costumer services representative Adrian Nazarett verified my complaint and told that they will give me a new one. I requested my money back but he refused because I did not bring the original box. Then I requested an store credit to buy another brand but Mr. Nazarett refused too. We hired D&T Interior Solutions for a kitchen remodel.
1. Job was estimated for 4 weeks. Was still not complete at 10 weeks, at which point we could not get ahold of them.
2. We paid them for our cabinets, but they never paid the cabinet supplier. We ended up paying for the cabinets TWICE to avoid a lien on our house. D&T Interior Solutions will not respond to our requests for a reimbursement.

American Craftsmen Pool
I own two homes; both with in ground pools. In 2006 both pools turned green and no matter what American Craftsmen did, they could not clear the water. I ended up closing the pools early. In 2007 I changed companies and both pools cleared right up. My new company showed me where American Craftsmen had never performed the maintenance services I paid them for. American Craftsmen hadn't cleaned or installed items properly.

Sears Service Contract
I have a service contract with Sears for my Amana 22 u ft. Fridge. It was not cooling. I called Sears and they sent out a technician after a week. He said the heat exchanger needed cleaning and was surprised that Sears had not cleaned this during their annual maintenance visit. He said it would now cool better. It never did. I then discovered after a week that the ice maker was frozen solid and the rest of the fridge was warmer than usual. I requested a quote from Blatt Billiards to install my snooker table. A service technician saw the table, and took the pockets, rails and cloth to work up the final quote. Before I received the quote, they charged my credit card. Upon review of the quote, it was too expensive. I called Santa Clarita Locksmith (http://www.santa-clarita-locksmith.com/ and got an estimate to re-key some home door locks. We were Suburban Propane (Fargo, ND) customers in 2001 and were happy with their propane service. Approximately in 2004 they were purchased by Ferrellgas.
