I have had a Gateway Computer for almost 4 years, never called Customer Service before. My hard disk crashed and I needed a Recovery Disc. I contacted Gateway. You can not get to their order form for Recovery Disc unless you give your SN. My SN was not accepted because it wasn't 22 characters. Gateway's site does not provide any telephone numbers or direct email addresses. You have to fill out a form on their site and hope someone gets back to you. Bought a Toshiba Gaming laptop. It worked well but got very hot. Within a month it started shutting down from over heating and gray screened on start up unless restarted multiple times. Tried to get Geek Squad to fix it under warranty. It took 20 days before they told me it passed all diagnostics and I should pay for a virus scan (I had reinstalled the laptop from factory settings before giving it to Best Buy). I received a camera case and a week later a DHL customs invoice showing declared value as 37 dollars. Unfortunately, I did not see the others' complaints until I was looking to register one of my own. I ordered a couple of phone accessories online and the payment was transfered via PayPal on 9/14. I never received a confirmation, but waited and nothing ever arrived. I tried to contact the vendor and received no response. I filed a claim via PayPay on 9/30. The vendor responded and cited a shipping confirmation # for which the usps has no information. I updated the dispute asking them to look into it - twice - no response, no package. I purchased an ASUS eee 1000H netbook while on holiday in Singapore in Dec. 2008. I live in New Zealand. In July 2009 the plastic plug fixture for the USB port came out when I unplugged a USB connected mouse. The ASUS service centre in Auckland refuses to repair the port under warranty (1 year). I bought an ACER Netbook in April of this year. Couple of months into using it, it just stoppped working. As soon as I turned it on it turned itself off. Kinda like it was short circuiting. Sent it to the repair center in Texas. Got it back and from the first day it started giving me problems. After about a month and half it started doing the same thing as before. This time when I was at conference and I really needed it. I called again and now I have to pay another $15 to send it to Texas and not even sure it will come back working again.
