I was in a minor accident that was my fault. There was very little damage to the car in front of me. My car's passenger side head lamp was broken and there was a little bit of fender damage. In September of 2008 I arranged to take over the payments on my friend's 2001 Hyundai Elantra. The car was financed through Drivetime. When I took over the payments I was first told I could make the same payments on the 15th of every month. I was granted a loan approval, then I was told I was appoved for a pick-your-pay loan, and then asked to drive 2 hours to a location (KIA DEALERSHIP), where I was basically introduced to a ton of stipulations regarding my loan that I was not presented with during previous conversations with the loan officer. I took my Van to Tilden to fix a severe front end noise. After explaining the problem to me, I reluctantly agreed to pay approximately $700 to have it fixed. Car was towed in for repair, recieved damage on lot. The vehicle was accepted without looking the car over before typing up the order, he admitted on his own accord. Service manager said they were not liable because it is a public lot. Had to call 3 times to get them to check security cameras and call me back. Called the owner of Mile One and he said this is unfortanate and offered to split the repair with me. Knowing they probably double the price of repairs to the customer the only thing he offered was to not make a profit on damage they possibly caused. I have been unemployed for 13 months now, and got behind 2 car payments, the collection people I have worked with have been somewhat agreeable that although I was behind I managed one payment per month. Their first tiered collection group have not but called me many times a day stating that they will continue until I was caught up. My agreement with the main collection people did not matter. This dealership tries to have you overpay by not giving you all the information on possible rebates and incentives. I had to remind the sales person the sales Manager that they had forgotten to apply the applicable rebates/incentives.
