Contracted with Ricky Smith, owner of Alabama Custom Counter Tops, for installation of new kitchen and bathroom counter tops in August 2009 with a promised installation date of two to three weeks. He has failed to show for two installation dates, does not answer phone calls, and has yet to return $2, 500 deposit. Based on this business' performance I would HIGHLY recommend you seek other vendors for reliable quotes and installation. I bought a 5 year old Horton home. WHAT a mistake. Very poor quality. Many hidden mistakes. In 5 years the house is in need of roof and siding repairs. Wiring issues, plumbing issues and more. Makes me sick to see what they get away with. Government should step in amd make home builders acountable. The subcontractors took every short cut they could and no one makes sure they do it right. When I called to place an order, the items that they advertise to be "free" are only given as free when you join a membership to a club. Even if you decline it over the phone, the cost is added to your order. At the end of the automated call they do not give you the total cost of your order. I had to call back. I would urge anyone who is considering a home purchase here to rethink your decision. The developer has not honored the one year new construction warranty. The community gates have never been functional in the two years I have lived here. I am not aware of one happy owner here. I will be happy to give you many examples of the issues in this community. If you have already paid a deposit I would try and get it back. If you can't then I would just lose the money you paid and take a walk. Ike destroyed my roof. So Blues Brothers said they were fully lisenced (ccc 1327232). My roof is leaking bad and have left many messages, will not call me back. I had a roofing company come out and they said they put the roof on wrong! They put shingles down way to far from other shingles leaving a space to leak. This company charged us £17, 500 several years ago to double glaze and supply patio doors for the entire house. We have had consistent problems which they have persistently either refused to come out to look at or successfully repair/ replace. We have damp interior walls from windows, sticking patio doors and almost the enite supply of window handles are cracked or broken. They ignore phone calls and letters and have done an appalling job. Ordered a beachcomber hot tub 350 model in April 2008, paid 6, 224.00 deposit. Goods should have been delievered 31st December 2008. Was told the hot tub was held up in customs, wrong model sent. By March 26th 2009 I had been told so many different stories why there was a delay, that I finally asked for my deposit back. I am still waiting for the money. I called the company to get an engineer to unblock a rainwater pipe that is flooding my hallway. An engineer arrived as promised at 15:30 and left at 17:30. The engineer arrived without the equipment to lift a manhole cover - I had to go to a neighbor's contractor to borrow a manhole key to assist him. I lent the engineer my hose in order to fill up his tank in his van. The engineer spent 45 minutes assessing the blockage, setting up his pressure hose and filling his tank. I have been a customer for 3 years. They frequently deliver without my instructions and charge my account. A bottle here and there adds up as they charge almost $10 a bottle. They do so for "convenience" but refuse to take back bottles I do not want. When I called to cancel, they dared charge a $15 closing fee. Now I see strange billings of $71 on my account. Caynes Housewares Store online system requies levels of security beyond any online store, and require the customer to apply to the credit card companies for special security. however they will except a phone order without this security, go figure. On Dec 30 2008, I sent blueprint drafting (18 sheets in a digital PDF file) via email to be printed by EP Engineering for the amount of $54. The order was completed and shipped in Jan 2009. In May I had to make changes to two of the sheets, and when I printed those at another vendor, I found the scale was different. EP had printed the drafting at larger than 100%. Bought 1165 feet of Select Brazillian Koa flooring for $4, 700. Had it professionally installed and within a day realized how easily the finish scratched. I bought this steam iron and I am very unhappy with it. I just called the company and they cannot do anything about it. They are blaming my ironing board. It is unsafe and dangerous. When it is upright, it easily tips over and falls. I have had the iron for 10 months and I am more upset because it fell on the floor when I accidentally hit my ironing board last week. In August of 2005 I purchased 11 windows manufactured by Alside out of the eleven 3 had hermetic seal failures. The seals all failed at the same time four years after my purchase. Don't buy Alside Windows the quality of their hermetic seals are poor. There is no charge under the warranty for replacement parts or materials. However, there is a labor charge on each window for removal and installation to replace the defective parts. The labor cost I was quoted for the three windows is $432 dollars. Four years ago I purchased 11 windows for my home in Middletown, New York. Mark Four sold and installed the windows, which came with a ten year 100% replacement or repair warranty on the hermetic seals. However, this year three of the seals failed and Mark Four refuses to replace them without cost to me. They want to charge me $432.oo to fix them. Since my windows are under warranty there should be no charge to fix the defective seals.
