The first time I did business through American PC, everything went well, and I was very pleased. Late on, I was planning on building some computers for friends, so I ordered the parts again through these guys. The order was easily filled out, and the parts arrived on time. Amcom is a poor example of online shopping. I ordered a motherboard and CPU from them. After 1 1/2 months of listening to excuses for not shipping my order I canceled the order. To this day they have not refunded my money; one excuse was they changed the company that handles their finances, and would mail me a check. I ordered one SCSI CD-R drive which was bundled with the Adaptec CD-Creator software and the wire to connect the CD-R drive to the sound card. What I received was a CD-R drive made by a different manufacturer than what I ordered that didn't even work (was completely dead - would not respond to connected power in any way), no CD-Creator software, and a wire that didn't even mate up to their own CD-R drive. Money was taken from my account without my being aware this would happen. I was told on the website that I would be charged a one time fee of $1.99 for a CD that would help me get a grant. After talking with the customer service person who seemed to have no information for me other than I have been charged $58.61 after a seven day trial and $13.42 for an SBA news letter I never recieved in my email, which I had no Idea I was to recieve. After weeks of research, I finally ordered a ProStar 5604 laptop through AmazingLaptops.com. Terrible customer service. Purchased a piece of luggage. Charged same day but received about a week later. Didn't use it for about 3 weeks because I wasn't traveling but when I did travel I realized the luggage was terrible constructed and/or defective. The wheels make the entire rolling mechanism useless. Called Altman but they told me I was outside the 30 day return policy and they refused to do anything -- repair, replace, or refund. Here's a followup to my post I made on 6 Sep. On 7 Sep, Alphanex agreed via email to credit my account $56, but did not do so. I contacted my credit card company to resolve this. They said I had to wait 30 days from the date that Alphanex said they would credit the account before they could take action. So, I waited with no credit for $56 hitting my account. This company placed a $29.99 charge on my Credit card without my knowledge. I had never heard of them previously. When I called, they explained that they don't sell a product, just fitness advice. They claimed that the charge was originated by Adipose.com - another company I had never heard of - only a web site per My Fitness.
