Just bought the DVD player last night, drove 45min home, set it up and it will not play anything. I called their support and they want me to buy a lense cleaner. Why doesn't a DVD player work out of the box? I've installed for friends, family, myself which is approx. 20 units. I've NEVER had to get a lense cleaner on a NEW system. I purchased a brand new HP Pavilion Elite e9280f computer Dec, 2009. It is now March 20th 2009 and I still have not been able to use the computer. This is a company that does not honor warranty. You can call a million times and they always have a back order so you cannot and will not get a replacement. Where is CONSUMER PROTECTION here. HP KNOWS that their power adapters are shoddy. There are countless episodes of adapter failure, dongle failure and customer service nightmares. A search for replacement parts for my HP adapter returns 54$ as the lowest price for a OEM adapter, all the way up to 100+ from HP themselves. I took my Sony Laptop in for repair on 02/01/10 and was charged a $99.99 "diagnostic" charge which was to be refunded/credited if repairs were authorized. The repairs to the tune of $726.39 were authorized and turned out to include the replacement of a motherbord which did not resolve the problem later determined to be a video card. I keep getting a run around about the $99.99 refund/credit after calling Sony repair customer service at 800 920-7669 and speaking several different times with a Paul, Jacob, and Kathy. I was given a GPX digital photo frame as a gift. It failed after six weeks. I called the company and was told it would be repaired or replaced free of charge during the first 30 days after purchase. I was further told GPX would replace it for $30 which I estimate is approximately the wholesale price (it cost $59.95 retail). About eight months later I saw another, GPX digital photo frame on sale so I took a chance and purchased it. This one lasted about four months. I purchased a Compaq Prisario F700 a few years ago, I got it because it was a cheap solution (it was a floor model) and it was HP, and I love(d) HP. I had to downgrade the system to Windows XP for work, and though I could not have everything working due to lack of drivers, it served it's purpose.
